I had a couple beers here with friends to start a Kallio run. The place is small and it was understandably packed and loud on this Friday night, but with sufficient elbow use we managed to squeeze into seats. No doorman or coat check, so pretty laid back in that respect. Molotow is charming and I can see why it attracts its clientele. It’s got a bohemian vibe — I hesitate to throw the term hipster out there for fear of negative undertones, but the shoe fits rather well. I had a Magic Stone Dog Ale and a Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale, both bottled. The former was solid but the latter tasted like Christmas exploded in my mouth. I was disappointed with the prices — admittedly due to my Kallio prejudice. I just don’t expect to pay upwards of 8EUR for bottles in this neighborhood. Good selection yet on the pricey side, so it kind of averages out for me. Nevertheless, it’s certainly worth making Molotow a stop on your Kallio visit. I’ll be back :)

My favorite Kallio bar right now. If it didn’t sound so extremely ridiculous I might say something about how Molotow feels a little but like Berlin, but I won’t. Anyway, it’s a tiny, randomly decorated bar with cheap beer and wine. It’s pretty much always packed, but somehow I always manage to squeeze myself in. Good vibes.

Very nice place, a welcome addition to the Kallio bar scene! Love the terrace in the summer. They have a pretty good selection of quality beers(plenty of IPAs to choose from for instance) and compared to a lot of the other Kallio joints, they have a decent selection of good spirits too. The staff are fun and always helpful, which makes the place even more enjoyable. The only downside is that the place is PACKED pretty much always. Good for them, but finding a table can be a challenge. Doesn’t really matter in the end of course.

A divey bar on the far end of Kallio, Molotow has cheapish drinks, no standing room, and strange personalities. Just another night in Kallio then. I come here too often, though I’m not really quite sure why. It’s alright.
