Fine modern Asian dining. Delicious Asian fusion with many different dishes to try from. The set menus would be the recommendation with matching drinks menus but mind you that they will only accept one set of menu per table. Either you agree with your company beforehand or choose your own dishes a la carte. Service is very good and classy and the interior super posh. Do expect to spend top dollar but you should be left satisfied but not completely full.

Upscale modern Asian Fusion in the Hotel Kamp on the Esplanadi. Friendly and attentive server who was knowledgable about their drinks and menu. Recommended a great japanese whisky. The rest of the group had a tasting menu, and they offered up a vegetarian tasting menu which they put together with some of the vegetarian options i liked on their a la carte menu. Food was great and they server recommended a great red wine.

This review is based on 15 visits over the last 6 months on project. The VIBE: 4.5 Stars — upscale yet not stuffy vibe, with low-volume lounge/house music, nice finish-out, and convenient location attached to Hotel Kamp. Mostly business and well dressed crowd. The SERVICE: 4 Stars — Two of the servers are amazing, remember us every time so well so don’t need menus. They bring us what we like at the pace we like it adn are very friendly. The third server, well… opportunity for improvement. We’ had the third server 3 times now and now avoid her section. The FOOD: 3.5 Stars — Consistent dishes, this rating is an average of everything we have tried. The fried rice is disappointing(2 stars) and their«Maki» rolls(daily special roll) are ok, but almost everything else is quite good. The veal(4 stars), the Spinach Salad with Sesame favoring(4 stars) are great staples… but where this place shines is the Hot Stone(4.5 Stars). They offer Prawns(4 stars), Lamb(4.5 stars), and Beef(15 stars!). The cuts are thick and quality for the price and hold their flavor on the stone. The Bottom Line — If you are nearby and looking for an upscale yet casual vibe with good asian cuisine, this is one of your best bets in the area.

Fantastic Asian fusion food in Helsinki! Who knew? This modern and strikingly beautiful restaurant is next door to the Hotel Kämp off of the Esplanaden. It is decorated very tastefully, with lots of modern lighting fixtures, metal screens and Asian pottery. I was greeted warmly and with smiles by all the women on the serving staff as well as the manager, and it felt genuine, not forced. I was lucky enough to be served by the aforementioned manager, who asked what I liked on the menu and made some great suggestions. I love small plates and she suggested three. But first, she brought a small bowl of peanuts seasoned with lemongrass, kaffir lime and(I think) galangal. Wow — that was quite literally the best bowl of peanuts I have ever eaten. That is a taste I just could not get enough of. My first dish was«salmon crackers», a modest name for a dish that deserves a bit of immodesty. It basically consists of the freshest salmon sashimi imaginable with some subtle seasonings, served on very thin, very crisp(an obviously made in house) crab crackers. Wow! So good. Next was a very nicely sized salad of thinly-sliced, cooked octopus, chunks of rich pork belly, mint, cabbage, green beans, herbs and pine nuts in a very light, slightly sweet and acidic rambutan vinaigrette. The pork and octopus were perfectly cooked and went well together. All the veggies had good crunch, the dressing was superb and the dish was good until the last bite. My last dish was Thai meatballs stuffed with lemongrass and garlic and red curry. It came with a small bowl of curry mayonnaise on the side. The meatballs were nicely cooked, exceptionally flavorful and a great way to end a wonderful meal. Is Yume expensive? Yes, a bit. But in this case you get what you pay for. Yume is a real winner and highly recommended.

Food was good but the service was poor. Everything took very very long, at the end we had enough of waiting for the waiter and we decided to skip desert and eat accross the street. It was the highlight of the evening.

Best sushi in Helsinki in sophisticated yet relaxed setting. Effortlessly friendly and polite staff which is rare in Helsinki. Expensive but worth the money.

Impressive décor, good service, tasty and consistent food. Wait, am I really in Helsinki? Started with a rich and flavorsome miso soup, and then we dived into a sushi platter, a sashimi platter and some a la carte to round out. The pacific mackerel was fantastic, and the spider roll and rainbow roll were also good. The sushi and sashimi platters were consistently good, without that all to often disappointing dud note. Good work. The place was a little quiet for a Saturday night, but it warmed up as the evening rolled on. So why only 4 stars? In a word, price. Clearly the expensive décor and home in Helsinki’s most expensive hotel, the Kämp, takes its toll at bill time. The sake we ordered from the small list was good, but 99EUR for a smallish bottle is a little steep. So, if you want a treat, feel like celebrating with friends, or best if the company is paying, head to Yume without delay.
