Go back in time to the 1100s, when this church was carved out of the living stone of the hill in a mere ten years. The faith and dedication of those who created Église Saint-Jean have left us an example we would do well to emulate. Alas, a portion of the hill collapsed after several hundred years of use, but what remains is a marvel rarely repeated even today. The informative audio tour in your choice of several languages gives a good sense of what is before you and is a mere € 5. The tour can be completed in half an hour, but more time would be better.
