Arc-en-Ciel is a lovely Breton gite on the(brand new) main road between Baud and Ponthivy, set in a tiny hamlet of three houses called Kermartin. I recently had a fabulous holiday there, as a base for a motor-cycling holiday. Formerly a farmhouse, the interior style is rustic French, and it also has a nice patio area outside in which to eat, a small private swimming pool(illuminated at night!), and a large barn providing an under cover area in which to play table-tennis, dry washing or even keep your car or motor-bikes dry. It has extensive enclosed lawns for children to run around to their heart’s content(or for adults to play boules). The adjacent building has not yet been renovated, but features defensive towers at the rear, indicating that it was probably once a small defended Manor-House. You will definitely need a car to get there(although you could cycle around on minor roads once there). The nearby village of Guenin has the essential boulangeries for bread and croissants, and Baud has several supermarkets and excellent restaurants. It’s a 20-minute drive to the coast, the famous stones at Carnac, and excellent beaches.
