Have you ever eaten so much cheese that you thought you would start to look and smell like cheese? No? Thank God for that. What a nightmare it would be. But I have to admit that I made a very decent attempt on my recent holiday to France. This restaurant was the second time we went for the all singing and dancing cheese menu in just short under 24 hours. It’s located in small town in the French alps … where else … and one just fall out of the actual place of cheese production, straight into this little gem. The place is very rustic, all wood and alpine schnick schnack. As it was mid-November and as such out-of-season, we had to make sure they were open after 2pm, as normally restaurants only open a few hours over lunch. We were lucky with the opening times and we took full advantage. The set menu for 18 Euros included a massive salad starter(with cheese cubes), followed by either salmon or sausages in white sauce(with melted cheese), plus a crème brulee or fromage blanc. What more to you want for that price? As we were a big group some people opted out of the menu and went for tartiflette. Basically creamy melted cheese with potatoes, onions and bacon, or for vegetarians: cheese with potatoes and onions. Oh yes, I mentioned the cheese first, as it was mainly melted cheese with some potatoes in it. One could get either normal cheese or goats cheese. I had to admit defeat and fished out the potatoes and left a good amount of cheese … but do not worry … no cheese was left over on this holiday. Someone at the end of the table finished it. What a great meal this was. This place is very friendly and in the usual European way they are very relaxed around people who like to linger over their food and stay at the table for hours. Very nice indeed.
