We had a fabulous dinner here in April of 2015. We chose it because they had a vegetarian option, which was delicious. The fish and duck were very good, plated up elegantly. They served more vegetables with meat/fish that your usual French restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise. We also tried a tasty rice pudding for dessert. Delicious! The restaurant is small and cozy, and is decorated very creatively. Quaint. On shelves on one wall there is a collection of quirky vintage objects. I wish I took a photo. I highly recommend La Roulotte.

The definition of French cuisine! While not street-food-cheap, we paid as much for excellent service and food as we would have at any of the more touristy spots in the area. ~10 tables inside plus 2 outdoors, open at 7:15 for dinner. Filled up by the time we left at 9. I had the duck, and my compatriots had the steak with foie gras, vapeur(sea bass we think) and a child’s prix fixe meal including salad, sweet potato fries(apparently rare in France), a hamburger patty, and scoop of ice cream. All of the food, including our foie gras/plum jam and leek/trout appetizers, was beautifully plated and balanced. It helped that my sister– a fluent French speaker– asked questions about the menu and helped us order, and she and the waiter seemed to get along. But I suspect that anyone with reasonable restaurant etiquette would get along swimmingly with this fine crew. Everything was great, and what finally sealed the deal was the chef peeking out to see if we were enjoying each course of the meal– at the very end he came to correct our inaccurate guess on how to incorporate the rum pipette into our baba au rhum dessert: you inject it directly into the cake, not pouring over the top.
