L’Artichaut

A nice little contemporary place on Place Carnot in Carcassonne. My wife and I had the 15 euro formule du midi, the lunch set, which consisted of an entrée, a dessert, and an espresso. The menu changes regularly — they offer a different «crumble» everyday, for example — so everything is fresh.
I had a salmon and spinach crumble — baked salmon over a bed of cooked spinach in a chafing dish with cheese (parmesan??) and a bit of cream sauce. I enjoyed it. My wife’s veggie lasagna was also good. We both chose the same dessert, which was a selection of several small items — a macaron, a tartlet, and a piece of delectable chocolate cake.
All in all, good food at a fairly reasonable price, especially when you consider the prime location on the square. There’s sidewalk seating available, too.
