A very pleasant little place in a reasonable location. The train station is less than ten minutes by walk(even with a toddler). We had the blue Africa room on the first floor(US second floor). The hosts had thoughtfully prepared a crib for our toddler(though she’s much too big for it). There was lots of space in the room. The spacious bathroom was technically outside the bedroom but right next to it, private, and with a little curtain cordoning off the combined space. As some other reviewers on other sites have pointed out, the place is indeed a bit old and slightly dusty. Modern and fancy it’s not. When I travel I often seek out clean and impersonal hotels because I just want things to work or be fixed ASAP. But once in a while it’s nice to stay someplace pleasant and homely that nevertheless does function well. The room themes aren’t some bogus attempt at internationalism: the owners adopted kids from multiple countries, who in turn have married people from other countries, resulting in one large international family whose countries inspire the room decorations. The breakfast was typical of France. There were several breads, with jams made by the owners, as well as cereals and milk. Nothing exceptional, but good and filling. Vegetarians will be served as well as anyone else. Though on a quiet and shaded side-street, which keeps rooms cool, our room also had an in-room(and quiet) a/c unit. This is valuable in the southern summer. We were grateful to have this at night, when the room got muggy. My only small complaint was that the WiFi signal could have been stronger, but it was good enough for basic access, and configured in an uncomplicated way(the WEP password was printed on a paper left in the room, so there were no fussy one-time passwords and difficulties using multiple devices, etc).
