Igloo is THE ice cream of Carnac. With over 100 flavors of hand-scooped, as well as between 4 and 6 flavors of Italian soft-swirled, your only problem will be choosing which flavors to indulge in. When it comes to hand-scooped, I always get Kinder(your childhood Kinder maxi bars have been gloriously reincarnated in ice cream form) and apricot. The latter still blows my mind with its tangy, holistic recreation of eating a ripe, freshly-chilled apricot. As for the soft-swirled flavors, I typically stick with classics like vanilla, chocolate, or pistachio. **Don’t forget you have to pay first at the little white stand off to the side of the actual ice cream cases. And keep your proof of purchase; they’ll ask for it before scooping your ice cream.** Before paying, choose your vehicle(cup or cone, also available in chocolate & chocolate and nut coated varieties), number of scoops, and additional toppings or sauces. ALWAYSALWAYS ask for the fluffy sweet mousse that is their fresh chantilly cream. Most of the time their registers allow either cash or credit card, but I’d bring cash just in case. Igloo is only consistently open in the summer, so their employees are usually pretty young. Most of the time, the service is fine(they’ll definitely remake your ice cream if they mess up). Only rarely have I found myself face to face with someone who was very silently, and very obviously, resenting me for being on vacation.
