Calanque de Port-Pin

J’adore cette balade, un peu sportive un peu tranquille où on peut choisir son accès (plus ou moins pentu) et qui mèné de toutes façons à cette calanque très sympa où on peut se baigner à partir de la petite plage ou depuis les rochers qui la bordent.
Pas beaucoup de places mais plus que dans certaines calanques et surtout la possibilité de s’arrêter là pour une petite balade ou de continuer un peu plus dans le massif et de se perdre dans ces magnifiques paysages.
Bref un best of incontournable !

AMAZING… is the first word that comes to mind. We made our first visit here on an especially mild day in early November, and it was like walking through a post card. We ended up parking (for free) on a side street and walking down into the ravine, mainly because we didn’t know where we were trying to go in the first place. This added about ten minutes to each end of our walk to/​from the parking area, which I suspect would fill up VERY quickly in the summer. (In fact, I would thinking parking would be nightmarish in the summer… period.) But clearly, everybody parking around us was doing the same thing.
You need decent shoes, as there are several places on the paths where you are crossing slippery rocks. The more traction the better! We were amazed to see so many young French families with small children on the trail, which in many cases, meant CARRYING the children up and down the trails due to the steep climb or slippery rocks. None of the locals seemed even remotely fazed by that.
The views are breath-​taking! And we could have gone on for hours, but we went about 3 hours out and back, round-​trip. (Was really useful to have the Google map app to see where we were. Made a couple wrong turns!) Didn’t see any facilities along the way (such as food, water, or toilets) so you may wish to plan accordingly. Great little beach about 20 minutes into the walk. Lots of people swimming, even in November!
Can hardly wait to go again!

Contrairement à Port Miou sa voisine, la calanque de Port — Pin n’est pas habitée de résidents flottants, juste de randonneurs et baigneurs selon le cycle des saisons, la crique entourée de pins garde donc son naturel, ce qui est appréciable.
Pour l’atteindre le plus rapidement possible, autant se garer à Cassis puis choisir un chemin (l’un est à flanc de falaise, l’autre pas) puis marcher bien 20 minutes. Faites attention, roche glissante et racines par endroits (évitez les tatanes ou les talons). Si cela vous chante, il est également possible de vous y rendre depuis le parking de la Gardiole, la voie est juste plus longue, ou en bateau, en kayak.
Nota: Sachez tout de même que la position couchée sur la plage n’est pas la plus confortable excepté si vous êtes fakir

if you get the chance, i’d highly recommend hiking the calanques in cassis
DO NOT BE FOOLED by the tourist websites that claim the cruises are the only way to go… they’re NOT! the cruise will allow you to see the calanques and their magnificence, but only from afar since the jagged rocks prevent you from coming up close

this was one of my favorite mis/​adventures!
there was a wind advisory that day, so the calanques were «officially closed» according to the tourism office
i decided i’d kick myself if i didn’t go, so i took a bus from marseille and thought i’d hike to see the first calanque… seeing one would have made my day
i got there and found out it was only advisory (high winds + french smokers == fire hazard!) therefore it was unofficially still open ;p

was gorgeous~ and fairly easy considering my lack of athletic ability i was able to walk across 5 of the 7 calanques within 1.5 hours and even stopped to dip my feet in the mediterranean!
terrain/​/​rocky & pebbly there are different color markers for difficulty levels… some of the more strenuous paths would require hiking staffs
if you’re not afraid of heights you HAVE TO go to the outer corners that overlook the mediterranean… it’s as if you were simba from the lion king… w/​the wind in your hair!

the waters are crystal clear and so beautiful!

Une magnifique calanque entre Cassis et Marseille que l’on peut uniquement découvrir à pied en partant d’une autre Calanque, celle de Port-​Miou ou en bateau.
Port-​Pin se trouve à 2 km de Port-​Miou, ce qui veut dire une bonne demi-​heure de marche seulement pour l’atteindre par un petit chemin de randonnée à suivre depuis le parking. Le chemin est facile d’accès même s’il peut parfois s’avérer glissant en raison de la roche calcaire sur laquelle on marche. La calanque doit son nom à tous les pins qui poussent sur cette roche avec un minimum de terre et qui arrivent à s’agripper aux flancs abrupts des calanques.
Arrivé sur place, il y a une petite plage de graviers où l’on peut se baigner. Encore proche de Cassis, cette calanque est pas mal fréquentée en haute saison et un repère connu. Il faudra viser des lieux plus reculés pour avoir un peu plus de calme.
