I didn’t expect to find ourselves at a Sri Lanken restaurant on our first night in the Cher but life is full of surprises. This restaurant sits on an adorable little corner of the road along the Nationale between Chatres sur Cher and Vierzon in what was once a hotel. The English speaking Sri Lanken family that owns the restaurant is totally adorable, the three kids take turns serving while the mom cooks and the dad and his German shepherd Jimmy greet guests and run the bar. The menu is 20% French(steak frites, saucisses, terrines, salad) and 80% Sri Lanken/Indian. We all opted for Sri Lanken when we heard mama was in the kitchen making everything fresh. Highlights included the shrimp beignets and samosas that were made in fresh batter and delicate philo dough respectively and the super fragrant biryani with tender pieces of chicken. They were out of their famous naan by the dinner service but the chapati was nice. NB: They have a 10 € kids menu and parking is around back. Total bill for three adults and one toddler came to 60 €.
