This is the bistrot of Les Berceaux. We had lunch, of course starting with champagne! Most other places we had been to had decent house wine; this was one I wouldn’t drink again. The beef tartare was very good, the foie gras not memorable(go to Les Berceaux’s restaurant for that!)

Monday night arrival in Ay. There’s one restaurant open and it’s booked, so we try to get into Le 7. Luckily, they said they could get us in at 8:45. Huzzah! So we booked a cab and headed over so we could enjoy our first meal in France. And enjoy it we did! We opted to have a 2000 Vintage Champagne(which seemed quite inexpensive on the list) to drink. The Champagne was amazing, So amazing we decided to hunt down the winery and stop in on our trip. Since we have similar tastes, we both opted to get the foie gras starter and the sweetbreads with mushrooms main course. The foie gras was really good. Served with some very ripe melon and toast, it was a great start to our trip. The sweetbreads were phenomenal: Moist and succulent. The mushrooms and sauce along with it were also really fantastic. We finished up with cheese. A great selection of Morbier, Brie de Meaux and a goat’s cheese. All in all, it was an enjoyable meal, and it was great they could fit us in last minute. We were also sitting next to a TV that was playing the inside of a fishtank on loop. So we got a whole lot of enjoyment from that as well.

Great lunch after champaign tasting. Escargots en champagne is an entrée you can not miss — absolutely gorgeous! We had fish — «lotte» — awesome and wings of «caille» as plat du jour — wonderful. Nice servise, very attentive and not intruding. Nice place to gather your strenghts towards next tasting:-)

We had a very pleasant late-ish lunch here. Nice selection of French fare with a fixed price menu as well — which is what we did. The day we were there we both has a curry(kind of) scallop & mussels & monkfish dish. Half bottle of champagne and dessert(which was an awesomely good pot of chocolate). Located off the lobby of that hotel that I once stayed in(quirky but good).

What a treat to enjoy such a nice meal after Champagne tasting! We did not have reservations but there was no trouble in March being seated. You will be treated like a guest and leave very happy if you choose to dine here. The staff is friendly and attentive. Our server spoke English and gave great suggestions. We were brought fresh bread and pâté before we ordered(so nice). We enjoyed the 3 plate Menus Du Jour pre fixed meal(choice of starter, entrée and dessert) 29.00 Euros per person for lunch. We also opted to splurge on escargot cooked in Champagne and spices(heaven!). Everything was exquisite, so fresh and well thought out! We didn’t order wine since we were still tipsy from the Champagne tour. Merci Le 7!
