Camping Reine Mathilde

Out of the many camping sites we sampled before arriving here I feel I am able to give a just review. Initially I didn’t put this place at the top of my list, it is pretty much on the middle of no where and the booklet only rated it 3 stars. However I believe it warrants a strong 4.
There is no road noise, none whatsoever. You hear the birds and your neighbours, and that’s it.
There is only one toilet block which has the chemical toilet, showers, toilets and the laundrette.
There is a motor home service point around the side of the complex and each neat plot has a point for electrics. There were high hedges giving you privacy and shelter from the elements.
There is an outdoor pool, although as out of season when I visited it was looking rather green.
A games ‘tent’ with table tennis, füßball and air hockey. A small grocery shop where you can order pastries and bread for the next morning, a bar; and a snack bar which serves very tourist orientated food, hamburgers and chicken nuggets etc. The only gripe is that we asked for well cooked steaks and they were more on the side of rare, I know that the French tend to prefer things this way but it was taken down with the order and apparently the chef understands English.
The proprietors Isabelle and Jacque speak relatively good English and went above and beyond for us. We needed to have our dog checked by a vet before we’d be allowed back on the Eurotunnel. Isabelle not only found us a vet that was open on the Monday (apparently part of some national holiday) but called and booked in for us as well.
I would thoroughly recommend this site and would stay here again.

Ich war im Juli 2011 5 Tage mit dem Zelt auf diesem Platz und hatte eine sehr angenehme Zeit. Der Platz ist mit knapp 140 Plätzen nicht riesig aber auch nicht klein. Die Wege sind gut gelegt dass man nicht zu viele Leute stört und trotzdem schnell an rezeption oder sanitäranlagen ist.
Der größte Pluspunkt an diesem Platz sind seine wirklich wunderschönen stellplätze, der rasen ist sehr schön weich und gepflegt und die plätze werden durch hohe büsche und hecken sichtmäßig voneinander getrennt.
Man hat reichlich Platz.
Weiterer Pluspunkt ist, dass man an der Rezeption auch englisch sprechen kann, Brot/​Brötchen können für jeden Tag am abend vorher bestellt werden (die Tatsache dass man vorbestellen muss hat uns nicht gestört).
Vorne gibt es einen schönen Platz zum Boule spielen und ein großes Zelt in dem die Kinder und Jugendlichen hauptsächlich toben und spielen. Dort gibt es Tischtennis Kicker, etc.
Der Pool auf dem Platz ist zur Erfrischung zwischendurch auch ganz okay.
Weiterhin positiv empfand ich, dass es ab ²²⁄₂₃ uhr wirklich sehr ruhig auf dem Platz war, sodass, wenn man schlafen wollte im zelt es auch ohne ohrstöpsel tun konnte.
trinkwasserstellen gab es diverse auf dem platz sodass man nicht weit laufen brauchte.
einziger abzug kriegen die toiletten von mir, bei den herren gab es keine seife an denwaschbecken und auch keine gelegenheit die hände anschließend zu trocknen. duschen und weitere waschbecken-​kabinen waren in ordnung.
alles in allem würde ich gern wieder hinfahren, es gibt viel infomaterial zu sehenswürdigkeiten in der umgebung und ausflüge sind lohnenswert. lediglich ohne auto ist man etwas aufgeschmissen, da es doch recht ab vom Schuss liegt.
