Le Caveau des Lys

Nous y sommes allé pour le déjeuner et avons prix deux menus à 29 €. C’était excellent de bout en bout, j’ai pris le foie gras qui était délicieux, le pavé de saumon en plat principal incroyable et une mention spéciale pour la crème brûlée à la rose qui était la meilleure que j’ai jamais mangé! Service très professionnel, un excellent moment. Merci à vous!

Ein Gourmet-​Traum, mitten in Fontainebleau. Wenn man zu erst hier reinläuft, ist das Restaurant etwas unscheinbar. Läuft man die Treppen jedoch runter, fühlt man sich wie in einer versteckten Höhle.
Man kommt jedoch hier her um exquisite zu schlemmen. Ich hatte die Jakobsmuscheln als Vorspeise, danach die Ente mit Popcorn (!) und Kartoffel-​Püree (mit Trüffel und Lila-​Kartoffel). Einfach nur ein Traum! Danach war ich Abenteuerlustig und habe mir einen Avocado-​Basil Crème Brulée bestellt. Es klang sehr verlockend, doch überzeugt davon war ich nicht. Irgendwie war die Kombination nicht ganz richtig und die Süße hat gefehlt. Besonders weil ich ein super Süßmaul bin hat es mich nicht sehr gereizt.
Im Großen und Ganzen war es jedoch ein sehr schönes Abendessen. Es hat gut geschmeckt, schönes Ambiente, jedoch sind nicht alle Bedienungen sehr freundlich (leider etwas typisch Französisch gegenüber ‘Touristen’).

Un dîner entre sœurs dans une cave, très bon cadre, en raison des épaisseurs des murs, on laisse le téléphone de côté et on profite le dîner à 100%. Le menu 45 €: entré, plat & dessert ou entré plat &fromage, sinon 48 € le menu entré plat fromage et dessert. Un vrai plaisir visuel ! Les plats sont très créatifs (le foie gras) et copieux.

The plates shows creativities which is not a kind of merely trial introduction of Asian foods. They taste very nice.

The dining area is located in a cave downstairs/​underground, so you should expect to receive no cellphone signal. It was romantic and nice environment though.
Complimentary course — butternut soup with foie gras with biscuit stick, it’s a bit heavy, but foie gras was nice.
foie gras starters with toasts — it was amazingly done, super tasty toasts, green special sauce and foie gras, love it, my favorite of the night.
main course — Pollack with risotto — pollack was fresh, but no sauce and a bit pain, risotto was too heavy with tons of cream.
Ox fillet — we ordered medium well, but it was cooked 120%, so very hard to chew on.
dessert — very nice presentation — green cream with berries and smore. but i forgot what it was… =.=”
overall, the presentation was very nice, but the food can be lighter (too creamy). starter is amazing.

Un anniversaire mère-​fille dont on se souviendra longtemps !
L’accueil a été parfait, le service impeccable; très prévenant et «aux petits soins». Le repas était raffiné, très original (leur foie gras est à goûter impérativement !) et beaucoup moins prétentieux que ce qu’on peut trouver à Paris, en beaucoup plus cher.
La formule entrée plat dessert est à 42 €, 45 € si on ajoute le fromage. Et les coupes de champagne offertes pour l’occasion.
On y retournera les yeux fermés !

Caveau is a hidden gem within the downtown area of Fontainebleau. Of all the restaurants in town, this one has the best combination of ambiance and quality. The dishes are not just inventive and tasty but beautifully executed, like works of art. Dining within the stone cave (hence the name) is an experience. They have a private room that can fit about 16 – 18 at one long table.
