Once I figured out how the central pay station worked all was well. I then had trouble with the #17 machine but a really hard push with the hip sealed the door and it started up! Alas this was after I’d called the «help» number and since I was paying rates for overseas calls I did not call them back. A very nice man showed up in about 20 minutes and did not even get mad at the stupid American woman. The laverie has a soap dispenser but if you want fabric softener/​dryer sheets, bring your own. I noticed the French took wet clothes home to hang on the line, I suppose. Thank you
