Hôtel du Simplon

Es gibt viele von solchen kleinen, einfachen und älteren Hotels in Frankreich. Die Schwierigkeit ist es, eins zu finden was trotz allem hübsch ist und Stil hat. Das Hotel du Simplon ist äußert charmant und die Lobby und der Frühstücksraum wirklich was für das Auge. Sehr familiär, eine super nette Besitzerin. Die Zimmer sind sauber und die Betten bequem. Natürlich alles in allem ein zwei Sterne Hotel, aber ich finde die Atmosphäre und den Stil häufig viel wichtiger als die Ausstattung, vor allem wenn man in der Stadt Urlaub macht. Und da hat man mit dem Hotel du Simplon in Lyon in jedem Fall was sehr gutes gefunden!
Lage ist aus meiner Sicht (ich habe lange Zeit in Lyon gelebt) sehr gut: das 2 Arrondissement ist sicherlich das schickste und gleichzeitig netteste Viertel mit vielen lokalen kleinen Geschäften und Touris sind auch begrenzt. Dafür ist man aber sofort im Geschehen und bei den Sehenwürdigkeiten. Ich würde das 1. Arrondissement eher nicht empfehlen, da ist zu viel los.

Petit hôtel familial très sympa.
Nous étions de passage à Lyon et nous cherchions un hôtel pour le soir, nous avons donc appelé le premier hôtel que nous avions trouver au hasard sur notre smartphone et l’accueil au téléphone comme sur place était sympathique.
d’extérieur L’hôtel né casse pas trois pattes à un canard mais à l’intérieur, il a un petit charme avec une jolie décoration dans les couloirs ainsi que dans les chambres. Celle ci sont petite, avec une salle de bain mais suffisant pour quelques nuits.
Accueil 24h/​24.
Le petit déjeuner est certes simple mais correct.
L’hôtel est très propre. Situé à 5 – 10 minutes des rues piétonnes.boxe privé disponible au bout de la rue pour un prix raisonnable quand on voit le prix des parking.
Hôtel à conseiller si vous êtes de passage à Lyon.

I can recommend this charming-​yet-​homey, very lovingly maintained hotel VERY warmly. I just stayed there for two nights in a triple room and would certainly stay there again I’d even pay more than the very reasonable price I paid (89 Euros a night for the three of us, not including breakfast). The hotel came recommended by the New York Times’ Frugal Traveler and we were not disappointed.
The experience started off on the right foot with the extremely pleasant email contact when making the reservation last month. the receptionist was happy to write in English, answered questions about storing luggage (no problem, there is a secret cupboard right by the reception desk for this purpose) and sending me a map of the area.
We arrived much earlier than the official start of check in, but our room was already ready. The large and charmingly-​furnished sitting room, with piano, had a family atmosphere and made us feel right at home. The elevator was tiny, but there was also a handsome staircase, and we enjoyed the cherry-​themed décor and the colorful maps of Switzerland in the hallways. Our room was compact, but we didn’t mind, as all was so clean and comfortable and the furniture, beds and bedding were clearly very new, firm and clean. Our room overlooked the courtyard so was very quiet, but I expect that even the outside-​facing rooms are not loud, as the hotel is on a side street and the neighborhood is a quite one.
We found the location quite handy, as we could easily cross either the river to either side of the city, and the good restaurants and nice sites are all within a healthy walk. It is not near the main train station, but that is easily reached by tram from the nearby Perrache station.
So if you want a simple but very cozy and charming place to stay, this is your place!

Qualité bonne compte tenu du prix
L’accueil est très courtois et les gens du service très gentil. Cela compte pour moi plus que les robinets dorés du palace. La chambre est très petite (de la place pour un lit 2 places+passages sur les côtés). La salle de bain est minuscule, ça c’est vrai. Cela suffit pour quand on est de passage. L’hôtel porte bien son nom, pas de fioritures. Je n’ai pas testé le petit déj. Il est très bien situé, à deux pas de la station de métro Carnot. On est sur Bellecour en quelques minutes de marche.

Une adresse qu’on oubliera très vite:
des non-​dits à la réservation par téléphone et on culpabilise le client à l’arrivée.
Chambres propres. Attention certaines donnent sur la rue et sont chaudes l’été!
Petit déjeuner très médiocre industriel, café mauvais!
Et cerise sur le gâteau, certains employés de l’hôtel sont désagréables.
Cet établissement né mérite pas de figurer dans le guide de l’hôtellerie familiale.

Ein wundervolles 2-​Sterne-​Hotel mit stilvoll familiär gestalteter Lobby. Überall im Hotel gibt es Kirschen zu entdecken. Auf Bildern, Keramik, und im Frühstücksraum sogar in Gläsern, Likör und etlichem mehr. Nett arrangiert auf einem alten Küchenbuffet. Das gibt dem Hotel eine sehr persönliche Note, wir haben uns auf Anhieb wohl gefühlt. Die Rezeption war durchgehend freundlich und Englisch sprechend besetzt. Ohne Aufforderung bekommt man einen Stadtplan in die Hand gedrückt.
Das Frühstück haben wir pro Person mit 6 Euro pro Tag bezahlt. Das Essen, wie immer in Frankreich, sehr einfach, aber ausreichend. Baguette, Butter, Marmelade, Kaffee, heiße Schokolade. (Eventuell auch etwas Käse und eine Croissant.)
Die Zimmer waren leider sehr einfach ausgestattet und nicht sonderlich groß, jedoch gut geputzt und zum Schlafen auf jeden Fall in Ordnung. (Ich fahre ja nicht nach Frankreich, um dort im Hotelzimmer zu hocken!)
Gute Anbindung an den Öffentlichen Verkehr: Metro und nur 5 Minuten zum Bahnhof Gare de Perrache. Dort fährt auch der Navette-​Bus zum Flughafen Saint Exupéry.
Die Lage des Hotels lädt ein, die Stadt zu Fuß zu erkunden. Vor allem, wenn man den vielen französischen Köstlichkeiten erliegt und man sich ein paar Kalorien wieder von den Rippen laufen möchte. (In den vielen Patisserien gibt es so leckere Sachen
Allgemein ist Lyon nicht die sauberste Stadt und riesig ist sie auch nicht, aber daher gut in ein paar Tagen zu erkunden. Ich fand die Atmosphäre sehr schön und es gibt auch allerhand zu erkunden.
Das Hôtel du Simplon würde ich jedenfalls immer wieder gern buchen!

C’est correct
Je né suis pas tout à fait d’accord avec l’autre internaute. Certes, la salle de bain est minuscule (en plastic…) et la chambre petite. Cet hôtel m’a quand même plu. Les chambres sont propres et la literie n’est pas mauvaise. J’ai trouvé l’accueil très agréable. Les parties communes sont décorées avec goût. La salle de petit déjeuner est très belle. Les propriétaires sont visiblement fans de cerise !

Certes ce n’est pas cher mais c’est triste. Les décors sont très pauvres en couleur et les chambres donnent envie de retourner chez soi. Bien sûr, c’est un hôtel deux étoiles mais on reste assez déçu sur cet hôtel. Dommage.
