My colleagues at the business meeting I was attending in Lyon gasped when I told them I was staying at a hotel near the Lyon Part Dieu train station. However, the rooms are modern, clean, have good internet and basically everything you need for a business trip. The staff is friendly, the breakfast was decent, and the location near the main train station is perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

Un des plus bels hôtels Mercure de France avec une qualité de service irréprochable! La restauration est aussi de belle qualité dans un décor plutôt cosy et chaleureux.

Great location Well priced for France(US $ 140/night) Free WiFI Staff speaks English Beds — eh, not so comfy Showers — eh, not great pressure I overnighted in Lyon on my way back from Grenoble. After looking at various airport hotels and seeing that there was nothing around the airport for tourist, I elected to stay at this Mercure located right next to the Gare Part Dieu. Rather than taking the train from Grenoble to the airport, I took this alternate train from Grenoble to Gare Part Dieu. It was a great decision because the hotel is less than 100 steps from the station entrance. Check in was fast. My room was modern and clean. I liked the complimentary bottle of water and coffee making fixings. Fabulous location! I dropped my stuff and got a map from the nice receptionist. It was about 30 minutes to walk from Mercure Lyon Part Dieu to Old Town. You basically walk back past the Gare to Cours Lafayette, turn left and you’ll walk right into Rue de la République(read the Wiki entry) and La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière. Instead of eating at the hotel, take a nice walk at eat at Le Gabion. It’s across from the big mall with Galeries Lafayette. The airport train is right in front of the hotel. It starts at 4:30am. We opted to take a cab to the airport which cost 50 euros. Ask the person at the front desk to make a taxi reservation for you. The bed was hard as a rock with two wimpy little pillow and very weak water pressure hence the one star deduction. Overall a great place to stay.

Yay! I stayed here for two nights during a 10-day holiday in France. Our first stop was Lyon and we got there via train(from CDG). The hotel was maybe 100 steps from the train station, which was super convenient. The rooms were humongous compared to what I’ve experienced in Europe. There was plenty of space, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was lovely and clean and modern. I thought the shower was super flash. It had a rain shower head which felt v. luxurious. The toilet was separate from the bath but that just means someone can be peeing while someone else is showering, which comes in handy. The staff was v. accommodating and friendly and helpful. At one point, we needed to exchange € 25 into coins because the Metro/Tram/Bus ticket machine wouldn’t accept our credit card(because we didn’t have the special chip) and it didn’t accept bills either. The front desk girl was super nice about it. Can you imagine the reaction of an American hotel’s front desk if you asked to exchange $ 20 into quarters? The location isn’t right smack dab in the middle of the action but you’ve got plenty of public transportation options nearby and it’s maybe a 5 minute ride into the Old Town. Overall, a great experience. I definitely recommend this hotel!

It’d be a 4.5 just because location is not in the centre of busy area. Arriving on a Friday night for the first time in Lyon I expected it to be busier but coming from Marseille– 2nd largest city in France and much dirtier, this was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is very clean, smells amazing, nice modern feel with great design. Rooms are ginormous and very clean! There are legit areas… living room area with two chairs and mini dining table where I had breakfast. Changing area where you put your luggage, shelving for shoes and clothes and a CURTAIN to change if you are sharing rooms– Perfect idea for a great travelers hotel! Toilet is separate from shower but at least has a sink with nice dove soap. Our bed was since big king. Free water in the fridge is nice. Shower was so nice but chilly Bc there is no door– just open side glass wall but so refreshing. I wish we stayed at more Mercure Hotels in Europe had we known! Stay here! It’s not just gorgeous but engineered right. The restaurant downstairs was pretty amazing too. See separate review.

My first time in Lyon and we get a great deal staying in this place for a couple of nights before we flew to Milan. Situated right by the train station is convenient but not noisy and therefor perfect. Through the train station is a good sized indoor shopping centre so handy for any necessary purchases, or indeed a look round the shops withouth going far with your heavy bags. We had a great room, very large and unusually, a separate toilet to the showeroom. The shower room is huge, with the shower cubicle taking the space of 2 showers although only giant shower head. The only downside is not bath the soak in when there is so much room to put one in! I noticed the cleaning was a little haphazard with a very things knocked, including my toothbrush charged accidentally pulled out so no charge when I got back but these things happen. All in all, a good customer experience too.
