Jurancon is wine that i’ve recently rediscovered. In fact I had forgotten that I had it specifically with a cheese pairing of Comte and Crottin, by none other than the«Ripper» himself, Eric Ripert. Sometimes things are so good you lose your memory :) I had to think long and hard about this and I now remember going through the«oh, I’ve never had anything like that before» experience. Uroulat is made by a man named Charles Hours with his daughter Marie. Tropical fruit, brightness and a light hint of earth/bitter that I’m now recognizing from the Petit Manseng of this region. It’s slowly creeping up on Sauternes as one of my favorite dessert wines.
