When you think of a romantic evening in France in a magical little town, it’s likely your fantasy embodies Mougins. We had such a fantastic meal at this little restaurant hidden up in Mougins. We didn’t know where to have dinner so we decided to walk around and see what caught our eye. There were locals everywhere drinking, eating, laughing and dancing to the live music playing in the square. This restaurant seemed particularly charming in an unassuming corner with a nice view of the courtyard and people watching. We were able to sit down without a reservation. However the restaurant was almost completely full so I do recommend making a booking in advance. The menu here looked particularly intriguing. They had choices from a tasting menu, a la cart, or a degustation menu composed of mushrooms. We decided to order all a cart as we had done a tasting the night before and didn’t love it. We asked if we could try the pappardelle from the mushroom degustation and they were pleased to accommodate this request, so we had it as a starter. The pasta was perfectly al dente and there were hazelnuts and mushrooms accompanying it. For the mains my husband got the local giant shrimp, and I got the turbo with soy sauce and vermicelli noodles. His dish was far superior to mine and unfortunately mine was very bland and boring. They noticed that I didn’t enjoy the fish and were kind enough to remove it from our bill. They brought the most delicious petite fours and we headed to the glacier for some ice cream. It really was a dream evening. I highly recommend that you check out this spectacular mountaintop, walking town.

Seriously, seriously good. Word is there’s a Michelin star on it’s way.
