Hôtel de la Gare

We were just staying one night in Nantes and looking for somewhere near the train station, so we booked into Hotel de La Gare which is part of the Citotel group. The overnight price was 50 euro, but we were informed on arrival that there might have been a better offer if we had contacted the hotel directly rather than going through a general hotels site.
It’s right opposite the train station but also only a short walk from the Château. The staff were excellent. We encountered two of them — they both had excellent English and told us all sorts of interesting stuff about the area and gave great recommendations for our stay.
The hotel and rooms area good basic standard. Short on frills but everything you need for a good night’s sleep. The beds were super comfortable. On a whim we decided to go for the 8 euro breakfast. I’ve come to expect the overpriced breakfast from French hotels — its basically bread and pastries, but we were glad of it, it was all really fresh and there was plenty of it.
Overall it was a good choice for us.
