We were here for lunch earlier today. While we didn’t expect to have lunch in the area, we spontaneously entered this place, which turned out to be a wonderful gem in the neighborhood. We entered and asked for a table. We also asked for an English menu, but there wasn’t any. Fortunately, however, the sole lady working the floor was kind enough to explain to us the menu. While we know enough French words for food, there were things that we needed clarifications. I ordered the oeufs cocotte, which are basically three steamed soft eggs, partly runny, and accompanied by a stick of rustic bread. Those were divine, and I made sure to tell her that I loved the dish extremely. After that, I ordered the sausage with aligot, which is this divinely wonderful dish of mashed potatoes and melted cheese and garlic. That was insanely wonderful. And on top of that, the lady was very nice and friendly. She was curious where we came from and even chatted a little bit. Again, totally unexpected. I’d definitely recommend this place. So if you’re heading to the Arc de Triomphe, try to have lunch on the other side of the arch like we did, as most of the establishments on Champs Elysees are just tourist traps that are probably not worth your time.
