Great food, shame about the service. We’d visited before, a few weeks ago, and found the service quite shaky, but decided to give them another chance. When our wine arrived already uncorked and in a champagne bucket, we couldn’t help noticing it was only about 9⁄10 full. Once the suspicious waitress had ascertained that the glasses on the table did in fact contain the remains of our apéritif, the bottle was replaced with the remark that the previous waitress ‘thought we wanted to buy it by the glass’. Also, difficult to know which is the manager, which are the waiters and who is too important to be spoken to. When we finally caught the eye of a member of staff to ask for a spoon for the sauce remaining from a starter, a large table spoon was handed over for this purpose, as though we had no right even to ask. Overall impression is that the proprietor is only interested in his regular clientele/pals, who arrived noisily throughout the evening and that other guests are not especially welcome.
