We had fantastic meal here sampling the daily offerings — had the duck with local veggies and they were made perfectly so that u could taste the veggies and the butter — so good! And for dessert we tried the chestnut tartine and the chocolate biscuit which was similar to a flourless cake. All fantastical prepared by chef! They were so helpful translating for us. Amazing eats here!

I wish we’d had the experience of our fellow HI traveller. We dined here in the evening and I agree it’s a unique setting — except for the screaming baby and lack of music or other noise to drown it out. No biggie — had the food been better. We booked the restaurant through our excellent tour operator, but when we arrive here(unlike other top meals we’ve had in other cities on our trip), we were informed we only could choose the ‘Assiette’ for our entrée, among 2 of the 6 mains, and whatever for dessert. After a slight protest, we were allowed to choose whatever we wanted for entrée, and agreed to pay ‘extra’ to be able to choose among the mains. Pretty much every dish was clumsy — and, as a person who used to be a chef, seemed like the kitchen was trying simultaneously to save money as well as overcomplicate dishes that could have been executed much more seamlessly.(The gazpacho was off-tasting; the mackerel that came with the courgette flowers was not scaled or cleaned properly; the courgettes themselves were stodgy at best, which is a real shame; my daughter’s epaule of lamb was not trimmed to allow for grilling; my husband’s veal was tasty, though not the same cut advertised on the menu; my lotte [monkfish] still had the bone-in which was unusual, and was accompanied by a weird tasting custard; desserts again were just overcomplicated where they could have been simpler; etc.). When the bill came, they tried to charge us full price for all courses, less 90 euro pre-paid(they also made a few math errors we pointed out to them in their calculations). We asked, they immediately changed the price and only charged us for drinks(which we expected). All in all, the experience was not particularly good, which is unfortunate given our high hopes for the place.

Gorgeous, superb tasting food. Made from freshly sourced ingredients from the region. Truly enjoyable lunch in a nice outdoor ambience. The service was also impeccable. Highly recommended, located away from the busy commercialized central court. Well worth the walkabout getting here. This is a must visit in Nimes.
