I just got back from Nice, and this is the meal I keep thinking about. This restaurant is tucked away down an alley but shouldn’t be overlooked. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. I had the set menu which was a bargain at right around 20 euro. It was 3 courses that included a dreamy eggplant casserole that was cooked perfectly – tangy tomato sauce, buttery cheese and thick slices of eggplant with just the right amount of bite. The main was a perfectly juicy chicken with a bright lemon and thyme sauce. Finally, desert was an apricot calfouti with lavender and a white chocolate sauce. It was the perfect end to the meal; not overly sweet and well balanced. My husband had a veal filet that was infused with the most intoxicating aroma of rosemary along with a side of zucchini gratin. A wonderful meal and a great bargain in Nice. Seek this place out – it’s worth it!

We have been walking around the old town of Nice last week, looking for a nice — not too touristic place which is difficult to find in the very center. In a narrow Street we found Restaurant Carpe Diem, a family run small restaurant with some 10 tables outside and less tables inside. The owner is Italian and so is the food: excellent Italian style, fantistic presentation and tasty. The prices are not high, they have a menú for 18EUR incl. 3 course and drinks. We will definitively come back next time in Nice.
