Frog

We made reservations thru Unilocal thinking this place would be packed because of location and reviews. We were the first people there at about 8pm!
We shared frog legs. Seasoned great and they were thick and juicy. I got the cod which was delicious as well. There was just nothing special about this place where I could recommend it. I wanted another item on the menu before deciding on cod and they said that was the only item they didn’t have. That was really the only dish that sounded appealing to me.

This is the place I first tried frog legs ever in my life! I could not have asked for a better experience and/​or a better place to do so than in Nice, France at a restaurant called Frog. We started with the legs as an app. and they almost had me fooled for coconut shrimp haha! For the entre we had the sea bass with a interesting purple sauce along with a side of white rice, which was also good!
I would recommend this place for anyone trying to have a nice dinner in Nice.

If you are named Frog, there’s one thing you better do right: Frog legs.
Bottom line, the frog legs are phenomenal! They are fried in a butter-​garlic-​onion mixture (that is great for dipping ones bread in afterwards!).
Admittedly they are a bit tricky to eat. Small for efficient knife-​and-​forking. I found the best was to just cut them down the middle and eat each one like a mini-​chicken wing (yes, mon dieu, with my hands).
The other phenomenal item was the Bavarois dessert. It’s a (tres dense) little pistachio cake on the bottom with a raspberry whipped cream in the middle, topped with whipped cream. One of the best desserts I’ve ever had anywhere (and ask my scale, I’ve had more than a few!).
The service was good and transacted easily in English. Definitely try it out if you are not bothered by something a bit different.
By the way, with 4 days to spend in Nice, we ate here twice! Never happens with us, unless remarkable.

The only dish I liked here was the frog legs. Niçoise salad was not tasty at all. Do not order cheesecake here for dessert. It was not good at all and it wasn’t even the right consistency to match every type there is out there. Our server seemed to be the only one in the restaurant and we couldn’t find him. It took forever to get menus after being seated and it took a very long time for our orders to come out. Frog legs are amazing though.

Escargot & frog legs were amazing! We sat outside with the beach view and it was a great time! Service was the best we had in France, our waiter was amazing.

Service jeune et dynamique. A table de l’huile de chez Alziari (huile d’olive locale) montre un effort locavore.
Par contre une carte beaucoup trop éclectique et trop longue pour faire des plats authentique et maison. Cependant Il s’en sort pas si mal: chaque plat est bien présenté et les assaisonnement sont justes. On sauce jusqu’au bout.
Au final le resto s’en sort bien malgré l’aspect «piège a touriste anglais». Je regrette des prix un peu élevés.

My boyfriend and I had dinner on Easter Sunday night at The Frog. The restaurant is on a small street right off of the Promenade des Anglais, and away from all of the awful tourist restaurants. Our waiter was very nice and spoke great English. He recommended a wine that went great with our meal. We ordered the frog legs as our appetizer and we loved them! It was our first time trying frog legs and it will definitely not be our last. For our mains, I had the rock lobster ravioli (one of the specials of the day) and my boyfriend had the stuffed duck breast. Both mains were tasty, but nothing incredible to write home about. We shared the crème brûlée for dessert which was delicious. They brought us limoncello with the bill, which I thought was an Italian thing and it was unexpected being that we were at a French restaurant, but it was a nice gesture and we enjoyed it! Would definitely return on another visit to Nice and would recommend!

Ce restaurant à l’écart du Cours Saleya sera un lieu correct pour les étrangers qui veulent voir si on mange des «frogs» en France… oui, on en mange et on mange d’autres choses, pleins pleins d’autres choses, une liste tout aussi longue que la carte de ce restaurant que je né recommande pas forcément.

Service correcte, plat originaux. C’est le lieux pour apprécier les cuisses de grenouilles !!
Pour le reste pas d’émotion gustative particulière.

Déception concernant ce restaurant pour moi malgré tous les avis positifs qui m’ont entraîné à y aller. Je né retrouve pas le travail de cuisinier dans les plats. Alors oui c’est bien présenté mais les goûts né sont pas surprenants. La carte est vraiment trop longue pour que tous soit frais ou brut. Dommage qu’aucun plat n’est le sigle «fait maison» pour me contredire ou me rassurer.
Je pense que le lieu est plus adapté à des touristes qui veulent découvrir cuisses de grenouilles et escargots ou autres plats français (d’où le nom).
Alors oui les plats sont corrects et la décoration travaillée, le service sympathique et décontracté, mais je né suis pas séduite. Même s’ils proposent un très bon Banoffee (d’où la troisième étoile de mon humble avis)

Picture this… Middle of October, restaurant a block from the water in France, best food ever and perfect service. Sound amazing? Well it was, and so is the restaurant of Frog.
Frog is a small restaurant in Nice, France that should be attended by anyone who is visiting or even lives in Nice. To say that this meal was delicious would be an understatement. It was perfection.
We sat at a small table outside and the waiter immediately struck up a conversation and told us all about the city. He made some recommendations on the menu and I went with the stuffed vegetables to start, followed by an order of salmon and the apple pie dessert. Each dish was absolutely delicious!
The veggies were stuffed with meat and were unlike any I’ve ever had. The salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly with just the right amount of juiciness. And the apple pie? That apple pie though? I have no words for this one. I’m not sure how they make it, but it had a sweetness and heaviness that I’ve never tasted in apple pie. Condense milk maybe, or even mixed with some sort of porridge. Whatever the case, it was hands down the best apple pie I’ve ever had.
From start to finish, this entire experience was perfect. If you haven’t been, it is a must that you dine here in Nice.

Très bonne adresse de la vieille ville, qui propose une carte aux saveurs bien francaises. Cuisses de Grenouilles et escargots pourront être dégustés. L’accueil est plus qu’agréable et le personnel charmant à souhait.
L’ambiance est très reposante et zen. C’est même reposant de s’asseoir ici et de dégusté un bon risotto accompagné d’un bon verre de vin.
C’est une adresse que je garde dans les favoris et que je conseille à tous.

Leurs spécialités sont. les cuisses de grenouilles et les esacargots ! Plus typique français il n’y a pas. On a pas choisi leur spécialités mais des plats plus communs:
— Souris d’agneau et sa purée maison
— Trilogie de poisson
— Le plat du jour: du poisson (je né sais plus lequel.) avec légumes grillés
Les plats sont autour de 20 – 25 €
Niveau cuisson. autant le poisson que l’agneau était cuit à la per-​fec-​tion ! Le tout accompagné toujours d’une poêlé de légumes et d’une purée. Petit bémol pour la purée qui était très salé !
Le resto est calme et peut accueillir des groupes sans gêné le reste des clients, il y a une salle un peu à part.
Le plus? La déco végétale au mur ! J’adore !
Bref une valeur sur !!

Frog was my favorite restaurant in Nice!
Although frog may seem like an exotic food to some people, as a Chinese girl, I actually eat frog on a monthly basis. The frog I eat usually involves being stir-​fried with lots of chili peppers either Sichuan style or Hunan style. I actually remember being a child and going to supermarkets where they had live frogs sitting in tanks.
Anyway, the frog legs at Frog are different than the usual Chinese-​style frogs. They were very tender. For those that have never had frog before, it basically tastes like chicken. Try it!
We also had the escargots and they were really buttery and garlicky — which I loved!
They also gave us free limoncello shots at the end!

Great food. Fantastic service. We made a reservation at Frog the night prior, and when we arrived found that they had reserved for us a wonderful table. We had the lamb and the duck and both were superb. The waiter also recommended the perfect wine. The service was very good all around and the food also. Highly recommend.

They’re in a nice quite alley with seating outside. I had a 3 course with salad, guinea fowl and chocolate cake which were all quite good.

Opens at 7pm. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great wine selections at very good price. Very good cocktails.
Food was excellent as others said. I tried 3 day fish (=3 kinds of daily fish) with king prawn. Virgin sauce was a bit blend for me so I asked other sauce (e.g. daily sauce) and it was better. Pomme frits were a bit soft. but it tastes good.
Highly recommended.

Gute, innovative französische Küche mit aufmerksamen Personal. Leicht überteuert. Dunkel in einer Gasse gelegen, die laut von der Promenade des Anglais (Hauptverkehrsstraße Nizzas) beschallt wird.

Super resto dans une petite rue calme la terrasse et donc très belle sans trop de passage. La nourriture est succulente j’ai envie de tout essayer

Service: Wonderful. Very kind and friendly. You do have to flag them down for water refills.
Ambiance: Really cute inside and outside. Sat and outside and loved it, but ech… the beautiful ocean breeze pushed all of the smokers’ smoke our way. Big bummer.
Food: Best frog legs I’ve ever had!!! Escargots buttery and delicious. Ask for bread to soak up the garlic sauce. Lamb was also yummy. The salade exotique also a huge winner.
Dessert of the day: Some amazing apple tiramisu thing. To die for.
Make reservations. It fills up fast!

If you’re in Nice you want to be here. The staff are great and very welcoming.
Escargots & Frog’s Legs on the menu were the main reason for coming here and they did not disappoint!
Also the lobster & lamb mains dishes were very well prepared and satisfying for our mains. The saffron sauce with the lobster was awesome.
Crème Broulee & Banofee for dessert were also good; more so the Banofee but only because we had had an amazing brulée just a couple of days before.
If you have the chance got this place up as you won’t be disappointed with the service or food here.

As the name suggests, they serve frog; specifically frog legs, which were very tender and delicious. The taste is comparable to a very small chicken. In addition to that, the escargot — a must try for your first trip in France — was fantastic as well. It definitely has an interesting flavor and texture.
My favorite has to be their house special, the foie gras. The portion seemed light, but once you take your first bite, the intense and almost raw flavor will overwhelm your senses. The texture was soft and creamy. It pairs great with a glass of red wine and bread. Based on my experience, this establishment has one of the best served foie gras.

Wow! The meals that you get in Le Frog are just amazing.
After checking out various restaurants nearby (which are mostly touristic), my wife and I were so happy to find a such a great restaurant.
The service was very gentle as well and the prices are very moderate.
As we were so pleased, we actually had dinner 3 of 6 evenings in Le Frog — different meals of course.

Il n’y a pas que des cuisses de grenouilles à manger mais tant de bons plats.

Our first dining experience when we got to Nice and I must say. AMAZING!!! The french baquettes were so fresh and warm we must have had 3 baskets. The recommended wine paired superb with our entire meal. We had one of the 3– course meals which included a squid appetizer, fish and a crème brûlée. The fish was Ok but the other two were wonderful. We also experienced frog legs for the first time as well as escargot. They both were to die for! The garlic herb marinade was perfect. Additionally, we enjoyed the duck. A great experience all the way through!

Nice little place to go for a good affordable lunch/​dinner. We were there for lunch and while they do have outside seating it is only a small amount so we ended up inside. The air conditioning felt nice.
They had different lunch specials to choose from along with their standard menu. I was there with 2 other people and we were all very pleased with our meal. Would definitly go back to try dinner.

Wonderful restaurant in Old Nice. On a quiet side street off the lively Rue Saint-​François de Paule, don’t miss this place while on a visit to this beautiful city. There are many, many restaurants in Nice but several of them are overpriced and overrun by tourists. Comical, I know, because I’m a tourist. I’m tourist but I hate myself when I’m a tourist. You know what I’m talking about. This place has a lovely authentic energy.
The service here is quite good — and by good, this means efficient and attentive. It’s a cultural divide for Americans especially: the French linger longer, the Americans want their checks and are ready to jet. Le Frog strikes a good balance between being painfully slow and rushing you out. There are a few outdoor terrace tables and a larger cozy dining room, take your pick. We started with frog’s legs and a Niçoise salad. The frog’s legs were FANTASTIC. I know that many people say that they taste like chicken — this is true in a way. The texture is similar to dark meat chicken. But it’s creamier and fattier. This house specialty was sauteed perfectly in a mixture of butter, salt and subtle herbs — we really enjoyed it. 5 of them were plenty for two people. This is a dish I’d come back here for again and again.
My main course, duck (medium rare), was excellent. My husband chose sea bass topped with foie gras and it was such a dynamite fusion of flavors and textures. One wouldn’t initially think that they’d go together so well, but they did. Airy, savory and very satiating.
The menu items range from 16 – 35 euros, pretty standard for most restaurants in Nice. We had a cocktail each and a glass of wine each, two starters and two entrees. The bill was somewhere around 121 euros when all was said and done. Well worth it, executed nicely and very pleasant.

Sehr guter Sevice, freundlich und aufmerksam.
Essen: Ebenfalls sehr gut. Hatte das Tagesmenü für 25 €. Vorspeise Bruschetta mit Tomaten, Mozzarella. Köstlich, Brot war knusprig und der Belag war mit einer Art Pesto beträufelt.
Als Hauptgang Rindersteak mit Pommes Frites. Das Steak kam in einer Sauce mit Pfifferlingen.
Nachtisch: Ein Feigenkuchen — unbedingt probieren, falls der angeboten wird.
Die Speisen sind alle eher einfach, keine haute cuisine, aber eben sehr lecker. Zum Hauptgang ist noch zu sagen, dass das Steak zwar sehr schmackhaft war, aber stellenweise etwas zu zäh. Die Pommes waren gut aber noch besser wären sie womöglich gewesen, wenn es selbst gemachte wären. Eigentlich würde ich hierfür nur vier Sterne geben, aber wenn man den Preis berücksichtigt, noch dazu in dieser Lage, sind fünf Sterne gerechtfertigt.

Accueil soigné, service impeccable, et que dire de la cuisine sinon qu’elle frôle la perfection ! Quatre plats différents et 4 personnes ravies, que demander de mieux ! On garde précieusement cette adresse pour les prochaines vacances !

C’est bon mais…
Mais pas transcendant et surtout ça né vaut pas l’addition finale qui laisse une belle amertume… Donc pour conclure, pas mal mais on trouve mieux et surtout moins cher !

Miam Miam !
J’ai plusieurs fois mangé au Frog après le changement de propriétaire… et je peux dire que j’en suis ravie ! Les deux salles sont super bien décorées, j’adore les couleurs chocolats et anis et le mur végétal (j’en avais jamais vu), le personnel en salle a été à chaque fois très sympa et pour la cuisine, mon amoureux et moi nous sommes régalés. J’ai gouté un Fritto misto très bon et bien présenté, on a pris des cuisses de grenouilles en entrée (succulent) et en dessert c’était un millefeuille poire choco, un régal, on n’avait plus de place pour le dessert, mais rien que le nom donnait envie et on n’a pas regretté. On y manger maintenant à chaque fois qu’on descend dans le Sud !

Déçu
A la lecture des avis positifs j’ai voulou tester ce restaurant. Malheureusement j’ai été très déçu. Service très long. La cuisine n’était pas mauvaise mais je n’ai pas trouvé le rapport qualité prix intérressant. Service moyen. Dommage car je me faisais un plaisir d’y aller.

Im Schatten der Opera in der Nähe des Cours Saleya mitten in Nizza müsst Ihr das schöné kleine restaurant erstmal finden.
Leider kann man nicht draussen sitzen, aber das kann bei sommerhitzigen Temperaturen auch mal von Vorteil sein.
Jedenfalls ist die Küche vom Feinsten, typisch französisch, auch mal experimentell, und keine Touristenfalle, wie viele an den grossen Plätzen.
Also bezahlbar in stylischen Ambiente, klein aber fein mit netten Publikum.

Mon resto préféré
Clairement ce resto, c’est le resto incontournable à Nice. Même si je préférais avant quand y avait la chanteuse qui venait faire son petit numéro tous les soirs. Ambiance tapas et vin rouge, le patron est un amour.

Bonne adresse
Super déco et bon emplacement, dans le Vieux Nice à l’abri de l’agitation et des terrasses pleines du Cours Saleya. La cuisine est bonne, même si les portions sont parfois un peu justes pour le prix. Le mojito pastèque conseillé par le serveur était une belle découverte, à tester !

Enfin une très bonne adresse dans le vieux Nice !
Un peu caché dans une ruelle derrière l’opéra le frog est un resto sympa mais aussi un super endroit pour boire un cocktail accompagné de tapas croustillantes.
Les assiettes sont copieuses en particulier les entrées alors à moins d’avoir un appétit d’ogre impossible de venir à bout d’un menu entrée/​plat/​dessert d’où un choix cornélien au moment de la commande.
Un coup de coeur pour les cuisses de grenouilles absolument délicieuses.
A tester en couple ou avec des amis pour se régaler.

Resultat: un restaurant proposant une cuisine moderne, du niçois revisité, et une cuisine française savoureuse !
Des prix raisonnables pour des portions généreuses…
Voilà un restaurant qui gagne à être connu !
(Mention particulière pour les cocktails, cheesecake et cuisses de grenouilles !)

Conquise par ce restaurant à l’ambiance sympathique (musique de fond électronique, décoration sympa), au service agréable et à la nourriture correcte.
Ici on y propose des plats allant des plus simples (poulet fermier et pommes de terres sautées) à un peu plus recherché en passant par quelques plats traditionnels niçois parfois revus et corrigés par le chef (par exemple la daube niçoise avec un trait de chocolat).
On apprécie:
— les produits frais et naturels (biologiques pour certains)
— les cocktails et smoothies originaux notamment le cuncumber mojito (mojito avec du concombre)
— le bar à eaux offrant des bouteilles d’eaux plates ou gazeuses peu connues tel que l’eau pétillante BRU d’origine belge.
— le service jusqu’à minuit pratique après une séance tardive de cinéma par exemple!
On aime moins :
— la nourriture un peu moyenne parfois (hachis parmentier de canards avec des bouts de gras dans le hachis par exemple).

Hmmm le FROG.
C’est un des bons concepts de Nice, de bons cocktail frais, des plats qui sortent de l’ordinaire et une déco jeune et branchée… Oui mais … dommage que la qualité de la nourriture né suive pas.
Sur plusieurs fois, mes viandes ont été très décevantes en qualité, même si le plat avait de l’idée et qu’on passé une bonne soirée.
A essayer ;)

Super restaurant situé près de l’Opéra de Nice, plus précisément dans la traverse reliant la rue de l’Opéra à la Prom.
L’accueil est super sympa, la cuisine est ouverte de 19h à minuit, la déco est super design, le service impécable et les plats succulents. Tout parfait !
En apero vous aurez le choix entre plusieurs cocktails originaux et des smoothies. J’ai tenté le cockatil du jour hier soir: pastèque, vodka, sucre de cannes et citron vert, excellent. Le smoothie de mon épouse fraise, kiwi, banane était sublime aussi.
En entrée, les cuisses de grenouilles à la persillade (partagées à 2) étaient parfaitement cuites (sans trop) et délicieuses.
Ensuite, les gambas accompagnées de petits légumes à l’orientale étaient parfaites. Le dos de cabilleau et risotto de Mme tout autant. Mon fils s’est lui régalé avec son pan bagna.
En dessert une belle crême brulée pour deux.
Petite musique de fond bien choisie et bien dosée.
Voici donc une excellente adresse que je vous recommande chaudement aussi bien en amoureux qu’entre amis.
