A éviter !

The main reason I give this hotel good reviews is that it has an excellent location in the most tourist friendly area of Nice. It’s walking distance to the old town as well as the English promenade. Plus, you can just walk directly out of the lobby to a number of touristy attractions and restaurants. The room itself was nothing special, although large considering the location. The bathroom was also spacious and clean, which was nice. We were lucky to have a room facing the back courtyard, so it was quieter. If you were facing the main street you might have a lot of noise at night. The down side of the hotel is that they charge for wi-fi(3 euro/day) and the breakfast was not good(8 euros). It was a basket of pastries with butter and jams with little more. The coffee/chocolate was not very good, and there was no nutella(the horror!). I’d recommend breakfasting elsewhere if you stay there. Overall, this hotel is great for it’s location and price, but lack of free wi-fi and a decent breakfast ding it a bit.

My friends actually booked a room at this place, smack dab in the middle of all the Nice action. We headed here from the train, and were told that there were too many of us for one room … they had another room for one night, however, so we booked that for two of us. The room was what they called a three-person room(hence it was more expensive), but it had two beds — not sure how that computes since they also told us they can’t do rollaway beds due to regulations, or some crap like that. They seem to be strict about such things in France, all the hotels I went through in my travels weren’t very accommodating about extra people. Anyway, the hotel itself is pretty nice, and the rooms were clean and decent. It looks tiny from the street, but it opens up inside and actually has a lot of room and a nice lobby. They gave us a room on the front side of the hotel, however, which is right on Rue Massena, a main drag for tourists. There were performers right outside our window, which was obnoxiously loud. Boo. The next morning we went for breakfast, thinking it was included in our rate. It wasn’t. Breakfast consisted of a basket of bread with a couple mini croissants thrown in, and coffee and juices. That’s it. We found out later it was $ 6 Euro apiece. Ripoff much? The price was great at this hotel(if you book a two person room, especially), so I would probably return, were I in Nice again. I’d definitely avoid the front of the hotel and the breakfast, however.

In the city center, a very charming hotel with all facilities. Yours sincerely.
