Le Bistrot Pirate

Had breakfast here several times june 2013. Our hotel had a buffet but it cost 16e. We found this place and it was great. Its a tiny tiny café with a few seats inside and a few ouside. For 8e we got a simple omlette ham or cheese, a croissant, some fruit, and coffee. Despite being so simple the omlette was amazing for the delightful taste of the eggs. Do not know how he does it. All 4 family members loved this place for breakfsst.

We came here based on rave reviews on TripAdvisor, so we were expecting a pretty awesome experience. When we arrived it was just for a mid afternoon snack. We came with our baby and stroller. When we arrived, we chose to sit inside because the one person outside was smoking and we didn’t want our baby to smell it.
There was only one other group of 2 ladies seated inside. When we went inside the owner put us inside but on the edge right next to the smoker because she didn’t want our stroller to be blocking anything even though it was pretty empty. We asked to move to the opposite corner and remove one chair. She seemed very annoyed.
We got the menus and decided to share a grande Captain pizza, which was reasonably priced, plus my husband got a beer. We had already had lunch, so we weren’t even hungry. The owner seemed annoyed again that we were only sharing one pizza, but shrugged and said «Ok, up to you.»
The pizza came out and it was big! Large portions, a lot of meat and definitely generous on ingredients. It was definitely worth the price. We asked for chili flakes, but they didn’t have any and the chili oil provided wasn’t hot at all. We were going to ask for something else that we wanted, but my husband and I were too scared to ask and now I can’t remember what it was. I just remember discussing it with my husband. The flavor of the pizza was mediocre and nothing to praise.
This is one of the first restaurants that we have been to in our lives, where were actually afraid of the owner. She seemed like she really didn’t want us to be there. It made eating here really uncomfortable.
Maybe we came at a bad time. Maybe we ate the wrong thing, but this place isn’t a place I would recommend. I’m giving it a 2 and not a 1 because the prices are reasonable, the set up of the restaurant is nice and it has good sized portions.
