We entered and were greeted by a snappy woman who wanted to make sure we left by 3p(we arrived at 215p). The meal was great, but the tarts we not. The food is comfort food and delicious.

I had a delicious, fresh, and filling lunch here today. The hours are wrong. She is open for lunch as well, at least until the food runs out. I had a wonderful vegetable tart with fresh salad and miso soup. Sat at the communal table with a nice group of travelers and regulars. Service is friendly and everything is vegan. No reason to post a picture since mine looks the same as the other photos.

After a week of really good Italian food(yes, it’s France), I was ready for a change. Fresh! Organic!

Trying to find good vegetarian food in a city that loves meat is very challenging. This restaurant is small, charming, and makes you feel like you are a guest in someone’s home and they are preparing you a homemade meal. As stated, the menu changes daily. I was lucky to have the potato and sweet potato pie accompanied by a side salad with avocado, olives and tomato. I also tired the vegetable pâté as a starter, also very good! If you are looking for vegetarian/vegan friendly food this is THEONLYPLACE in Nice! The owner/chef was very kind and friendly(and speaks perfect English– formerly from the U.S.!) Lovely experience and fanatic home-cooked food! Just go. Even if you are not a vegetarian/vegan you should try it!

Centrally located near Nice etoile /ave. Jean-Médecin. Small but very cosy and charming. There are pro-animal/vegetarian quotes written all over the walls. Limited menu but large portions. The food is not amazing but it is good, satisfying and inexpensively priced. The service from the owner was tops.

One of a kind. I’ve been to a lot of vegetarian and vegan restaurants around the world but this place is truly unique. Located a quiet corner of rue Lamartine this restaurant will not fail to surprise and delight you with its unique flair and its genuine and soulful Vegan specialties. Not a single wrong note in my meal at this place, great organic red wine, delicious vegetable pâté’, crispy fresh salad, outstanding potato and leek gâteau, light and tasty dessert. This restaurant is a true gem.

I have been spoiled by excellent vegan fare on the west coast of the United States of America(where Le Speakeasy might rate closer to a 2 or 3 stars). Run by a friendly California ex-pat, the food at Le Speakeasy was a little less innovative than what I’ve become accustomed to, but this place is still a gem to find over in this part of the world. And you will have to work hard to find it. Blink and you’ll miss it down this side street behind Nice Etoile. We just about gave up figuring we’d been teased by outdated information but decided to double back. Our(minimal) efforts were rewarded by a very intimate setting(only 3 tables — one 2-top, one 4-top, and one 6-seater), a hospitable and English-speaking host, and an overall lovely night. Daily changing set menu including appetizer, entrée, and dessert for a very reasonable price. It is a lot of food, so we ordered a menu and an entrée, sharing the appetizer and dessert, and also enjoyed some very delicious organic Merlot(which is very different from California Merlot in that it is actually very good. I know you are skeptical; I was just as surprised as you are. Stop judging.) We started with the veggie pâté which had great flavor but was a textural nightmare for me. We both ordered the potato and courgette pie with vegan/gluten-free crust(I no longer recall the alternative entrée that night). It had a lot of potential but was fairly bland. Dessert was an apple something-or-other, and I don’t know where we found room for it, but it was worth it. The hours of operation here are limited, only open for a couple hours for lunch and a couple for dinner(19:00−21:30 or so), closed on Sundays I believe. As mentioned, the restaurant is very cozy, and I would think that during peak months you would do well to call ahead with a reservation. Interesting quotes by fellow vegans/vegetarians/animal lovers written on the walls will keep you engaged if your dinner date doesn’t. I could have done without the animal rights propaganda staring me down during dinner, but as they say in France: C’est la vie.

With an american touch !
