This review is actually meant for the boutique at 140, avenue Victor Hugo — 75116 Paris +33(0)145532261, but that location is not listed on Unilocal.I’ve always been a fan of Annick Goutal and when my husband said he was taking me to Paris, I said I wanted to go to one of the boutiques. When we walked in the store on our second day in Paris(which wasn’t going very well) there was a customer already being assisted but, Wendy the sales associate said hi to us right away and let us know she’d be right with us. When she was finished she came over to us. I told her I was already a fan of Petite Cherie. She sprayed some on a card and then asked me if I could identify the notes. I told her I smelled pear and peach. She told me I was right. She then introduced me to the fragrance Le Chèvrefeuille — les soliflores. Which was very different but I loved it! We ended up making a purchase and Wendy was so sweet and professional throughout our whole visit. I would recommended a visit to her if you plan on going to Annick Goutal.

I first heard about Annick Goutal’s perfumes over years ago — or rather, I first experienced the delicious scent on a friend and deliriously asked who made it. Been hooked ever since, although I never bought any for myself. Why? No intelligent reason, really. On my first trip to Paris in a decade, I serendipitously came upon the shop while on a walkabout of several arrondissements, and immediately entered the premises. Very lacquered and feminine inside, it suited my girlie man mood of the moment. Annick Goutal spearheaded the return to making perfumes from real flowers using the original, centuries old processes of extraction and manufacture. Time consuming and more expensive, but well worth the price — it is truly an offense to anyone with a minimum of olfactory capabilities to be subjected to the nauseating odors of chemically manufactured scents so prevalent these days. All my colognes are old school. I spent a lovely demi heurre sampling the many scents, glad to be able to have all the latest creations at my fingertips yet torn between deciding which one I wanted to bring back with me.(it was my last day before returning and I had a very full couple of suitcases already — 3 oz more was risking an explosion) Finally, after much testing and deliberation, I settled on Eau du Sud. Bold yet subtle, sexy as hell yet sophisticated. Whenever I wear it I have to be prepared for the consequences. Any of her colognes for men will work the same. Wear them and count your blessings.
