Accueil agréable, restaurant divisé en plusieurs petites salles, on s’y sent bien! Carte courte, preuve de produits de qualité! La suggestion du jour: cabillaud — gratin de pommes de terre était très bonne.

I found this restaurant on Unilocal as I was looking for a great French restaurant for a friends hen party, and needed a private area for 20 ladies who love good food and wine.
From the start the owner was so accomodating — had been in contact with him before the weekend to book and sort a great set menu. The set menu we had to choose from was a great selection of their menu, and a very good price for thequality and service.
Most of the party opted for the Onion soup which they all raved about, followed by the Steak and the Crème Brulle. All fabulous. The French toast desert was also a hit.
Although I hear that the beef bourguignon was the highlight of the night! Unfortunately I didn’t get to try it!
We were seated in a seperate room, but still had great service, the waiter was very patient and attentive.
I would recommend definitely, and would love to come again when I am next in Paris.
I think although we had a large group, and it was a different experience, the main restaurant looked fabulous. Very busy, had a great atmosphere and would definitely recommend for smaller groups and couples.

I’ve dined here twice, both without reservations and we were seated without a problem.
Pros:
–The menus come in both English and French.
–good bread
–fast service
–decent prices
–they take AmEx!
Cons:
–awful second experience with rude, snotty servers (even for Paris).
–inconsistent food
–expensive beer
–sassy waitresses who feel the need to share their thoughts on everything
My first visit for a date night with my boyfriend, we had a great experience. We ordered charcuterie to start (not on menu, only in the bar area but you can ask for it), a bottle of red wine, and two angus beef steaks with shallots and fries (21 €). Whole meal came out to 96 €.
We asked the steak to be cooked well and it came out juicy and just perfect. The whole experience was great.
My second visit was just last week. My brother was in town and we wanted to take him out for steak. The three of us ordered five beers, two steaks with fries (21 €), a chicken and rice dish, and French toast with salted ice cream for dessert (8 €). Each beer was 4.5 € for less than a pint. Whole meal came out to 96 €.
When we asked for the steak to be cooked well, the waitress made it very clear that that was unacceptable. Our steaks this time came out almost inedible. It was awful.
When we finished our first round of tiny ass beers, we asked for bother round and another waitress looked at us and said, «you know, it’s not a race.» Uh what the hell? The chicken and rice dish looked gross. I had a bite and couldn’t do more. The dessert was good but nothing special and big enough to split amongst three.
So I guess, only come here if you are in the neighborhood and want to eat cheap for Paris steak and French food. This isn’t a place I would plan to come to.

Atmosphere was tiny, quaint, locals spot with beautiful wood beams running across ceiling and lofted dinning area.
Steak and frites with peppercorn sauce was fantastic. Chardonnay was the most delicious I’ve ever had (must find supplier).
On a quiet side street in St. Michel, so nice.

This is a great place for French food. Despite actually being quite big inside, it’s actually very cosy and comfortable. My girlfriend had the French soup to start and the steak for main, both of which were delicious, and I had the rabbit terrine and Veal shank, neither of which I could fault. The waitress spoke very good English, and gave us great service. Would definitely recommend!

We got there before the crowds, we were sat in the upstairs back room, aka the American room, when the meal started everything was quick and efficient, when it was time to pay and leave, we were completely forgotten. The food was really good, all protein dishes came with a cute little basket of pomme frittes, the french onion soup was spot on as was the beef tartare.
I would recommend eating here, just try to sit in the front upstairs room or eat down stairs in the bar as you will be forgotten once the restaurant gets busy.

Delicious French café with really great traditional French foods. My husband, friend and I got a bottle of wine, escargot (delicious well cooked and great flavor), foie and sausage to start. Everything was cooked really well. For entrees we got the duck, cooked perfectly med rare and pink in the center, my friend got the cod which came with a bunch of juicy mussels and I got the beef tartare which was excellent. We all really enjoyed a solid meal here. Simple, tastey, well flavored, nothing overly salted and great service.
The restaurant closes at 3 for a break before dinner service and we left around 4:30 and had no idea they were closed. They never once rushed us to leave or said a single word! Loved this place and wish it was around the corner from my house in America.

Over rated place. Wish we had gone elsewhere. Very limited food and wine choice to begin with and even from that short list several key items were missing.
The service was agonizingly slow. Not sure if they are part of some slow food movement? If yes I wish they would publicize that fact, so folks not interested in waiting for an hour after their order has been placed would be forewarned.
Our waitress not very helpful and had to be requested thrice before she dumped some bread on our table after an hour had gone by. The much touted cassoulet turned out to be one of the most tasteless french dishes I have had to date. Think of beans from a can, drained and tossed with powdered cheese for the utterly bland favor they had. The snails did live up to their reputation, but I was surprised at the number of Scandinavian inspired dishes on the menu of a supposedly French place.
During dinner we watched our neighboring tables wait about an hour each for their coffee and desert. As a result we were supremely uninterested in checking out their desert — hopefully it was better then the rest.

We ate several «French» meals during our week long trip, and none were as consistently as good as this place (we ate here twice in five nights). The burger and French onion coup were excellent and the staff was friendly. Excellent desserts as well.

Petit bobo fatigué de claquer des fortunes pour des mini-​assiettes soit disant ébouriffantes accompagnées d’un verre de vin pas si sensationnel, pousse donc la porte de ce solide resto sans arnaques ni mauvaises surprises.
Au Père Louis, on né vient pas chercher l’originalité, mais une franche cuisine du sud-​ouest qui tient au corps et frémit sur les papilles. Certes, on né se relèvera pas la nuit pour manger leur confit de canard ou leur burger, mais on né sera pas non plus tenté de l’envoyer à la tronche du serveur. Ici, les prix sont corrects, l’ambiance agréable (chapeau bas, les touristes se mêlent ici aux Parisiens pur jus). Le Père Louis, c’est un de ses restos où on aime se rendre sans prise de tête, sans se poser 36 questions, pour faire un bon repas ou se taper une jolie bouteille ensoleillée, avec sa grand-​mère, sa bande de copains ou son tout nouveau «date». En un mot, un lieu qui a tout bon.

We found this little gem in a side street just around the corner from our hotel based on reviews we had read. The onion soup is the best we’ve had in Paris! We followed that with a burger for my partner and the salmon for me. Both were very nice (large serves) and the bread that comes with the meal is nice and hot and best I’ve been given along with a meal. The wine selection is also very good and we found the staff both friendly and helpful.
The restaurant itself is nice and cosy with a separate wine bar on the ground floor. The night we were there, several large groups of Frenchies were celebrating birthday’s. We took that as a good sign that it was filled with locals. Definitely recommend as it won’t disappoint.

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Paris or living in Paris. Everything on the menu looks incredible and I must recommend the escargot and the parmentier de canard. I sat next to two folks who came back for a 2nd time in the last three days they were in Paris. The service was great, the space has a cozy bistro feel and is all open at the same time. Very romantic but great for friends too.

This is one of the times Unilocal users steered us wrong. Food was terrible! In fact one of the worst restaurants we ate at in Paris. Took the metro to come here and was wholly disappointed. Service was extremely slow and that’s saying a lot for Europe where they take their time. Onion soup was bad. Duck was worse and the burger was terrible. How do you mess up a burger!!! Thankfully we didn’t order dessert and found an amazing place closer to our hotel. To each his own.

Avis mitigé sur ce restaurant. Au départ tout s est bien passé, l entrée et les plats (cassoulet et burger) étaient très bon et la viande de très bonne qualité puis une fois que nous sommes arrivés au dessert, ceux ci né sont pas arrivés en même temps (15 minutes!). Îl a ensuite fallut attendre en plus pour avoir le pain qui allait avec le fromage. Si les plats né sont pas prêts ensemble autant né pas les emporter…
De plus la salle est petite et bruyante…

Stopped in for a nightcap after an amazing meal just down the block at Le Petit Suisse. Cappuccino (they have decaf!) and a calvados. The calvados was excellent but i cant remember its name. If we weren’t leaving tomorrow, we would be here for dinner – the dishes being served looked very good.

Ambiance chaleureuse, vins et planches de qualité pour un prix tout à fait raisonnable. C’est ainsi que je résumerait ma première soirée au bar du Père Louis ! Adepte des bars à vin je n’ai pas été de ce lieu très chaleureux proche du Luxembourg.
Parfait pour passer une soirée entre ami le long de l’autre table ou au bord du bar pour une ambiance plus décontracté. Je reviendrait volontiers à l’occasion d’un déjeuner pour tester leur carte plus qu’alléchante aux couleurs du sud ouest.

Huntington Beach, CA
I live in southern California and there is nothing compared to the food I ate here. The bone marrow was huge and rich. It was an order for at least 4 people to try. Every time I order this in the states it’s very small and hard to share as an appetizer. The bone was as large as my fore arm. The duck steak/​filet was one of the best things I ever ate. I highly recommend it. The cassoulet was super delicious and different from anything i every tired. The crème brûlée is nothing like I ever tired in the states. Many places it taste so good but this crème brûlée
was the best I ever ate. And to think I almost didn’t order it. French food is life changing.
If you happened to read my review. Go here order everything I ordered. It will be a great meal. Fyi food portions are pretty good size. They have a rib steak dinner for two for 50 euros. It looked and smelled super delicious.
Make sure to rsvp so you don’t have to wait for a table. They do get busy. I had my hotel call for me.

But the food leaves much to be desired. French onion soup, duck magret, entrecôte (steak) are all not good. The only ok dish is the duck confit.

Not a tourist trap and we were glad we found this on Unilocal.However, given the price, I wasn’t pleased with our meal. It was a bit pricey and the foods weren’t good enough to keep me coming back. Dishes were on average of about $ 20 each, pricey eh?
We sat downstairs, it was cramped and dark, not a fan of the atmosphere. However, it seemed like there were more seating upstairs.
The French onion soup was nearly flavorless to me, it tasted almost like water after a few sips. My boyfriend thought it was the best he’s ever had, so maybe I am not fond of French onion soups in general. It had a few slices of bread in it and cheese, which ended up clumping together.
My boyfriend had the escargot (12 snails) and he enjoyed it but it’s definitely not something he would order again given the price. I couldn’t get myself to eat them, haha. I ordered the duck confit and I was happy with my meal, it was delicious! The garlic potatoes were one of the best I’ve had, round potato slices with garlic… mmm. My duck confit had crispy skin and tons of meat. However, you can only eat so much duck without rice, it was incredibly salty. My meal also came with a small salad.
My boyfriend loved his Aue Pere Louis, which is pork with beans. It had a bbq flavor to it. Tons of meat, which he couldn’t finish. Unfortunately, to go boxes do not exist, so you have to eat everything or just give it up.
Service was a bit slow, the 2 lady workers seemed busy. I was a bit sad when I saw a Phở restaurant across the street after our meal. No regrets though, I suppose.

Good quality onion soup, confit de canard crispy on the outside. Pommes persillées is notably crispy and fresh. Bread is special (wheat, soft and non-​baguette) and refilled often. Very reasonable price.
*White wine is great though a little on the expensive side (25 € for a bottle of 2013), but the waitress is very professional: we found a strand of hair in one glass, waitress replaced it with a new glass filled with new wine.
Overall, a fine dining experience. Though very traditional, all the plats are perfectly done. While 37 € per person leaves you many other options, the service and restaurant ambiance here are sublime.

Au vue des nombreux commentaires dithyrambiques, je né sais pas si je suis tombée sur un mauvais soir ou si j’étais particulièrement contrariée ce jour là… Bref, vous me mettez le doute, mais après mon diner au Père Louis, j’ai eu la très amère impression de m’être bien faite rouler dans la farine.
Pour moi, c’était tout simplement des plats en boîtes vendus à un prix excessivement scandaleux — les «cuistots» né se cachent même pas, puisque nous avons eu droit à un remplissage du stock de «tartares maison» de la cave aux cuisines sous nos yeux (portions individuelles de tartare — prêtes à être servies — sous vide).
Passez votre chemin, et né vous laissez pas berner par le côté «bonne cuisine franchouillarde authentique» !

The service here is incredible. The food here is good. This place is opened on Sundays so if you are looking for some decent French food on a Sunday near the Pantheon, this is a good place to go.
My friend ordered the lundi de paques special with an oeuf cocotte florentine, lamb cooked for 7 hours, and double chocolate dessert. Him and his wife said it was good — they did not rave about it though. I had the duck confit. The potatoes are delicious, the duck confit was decent. The tiramisu i had was not good at all and i didnt finish.
They did not take my ticket restaurant.
Overall, for Sunday dinner quality and French food in Paris (you must realize that most good French places are not opened on Sundays), it’s not bad at all.

This place is great! We had dinner here and enjoyed it very much. The food was better than we expected — get the duck preserved! We had duck for apps and both our dinners (also the duck steak) and they do it right. So tasty!
Also the staff was nice. Our waiter was friendly, could speak English and made sure we were taken care of and recommended a great bottle of wine we loved.

Au Père Louis, deux soirées nous y avons diner … et deux fois nous avons été comblés !
Belle petite adresse avec une équipe très souriante, proche de ses clients ce qui n’est pas systématiquement la norme à Paris …
Etant donné que nous n’avons jamais réservé, nous avons toujours du passer un moment accoudé au comptoir … mais avec l’aide d’une bonne bouteille pour patienter hein ;). En y repensant, ce «sas d’attente» devrait finalement être obligatoire car cela permet de profiter de l’ambiance décontractée, voir festive du lieu !
Coté nourriture, les plats proposés sont traditionnels mais bien réalisés, ce qui permet de réconcilier bobo locaux et clients internationaux car on est quand même dans un quartier très touristique !
Petit conseil, tentez d’obtenir une table dans la salle du haut que je trouve plus sympa. Après si vous né réservez pas et au regard de la fréquentation du lien, ce sera la loterie. Mais l’imprévu à également du charme !

Une ambiance à la fois intimiste, festive et élégante, ça peut sembler contradictoire et elle est pourtant ainsi au père Louis. Y aller entre amis, en famille. La bonne place: au fond du bar. Prix corrects pour la qualité des vins et la quantité des mets.

Tout était parfait: les plats, le vin, le service, l’ambiance,… Nous étions 5 et avons goûté la soupe à l’oignon, le confit de canard, le tartare de bœuf, les côtes de bœuf (pour 2 personnes), le burger, la tarte tatin et le tiramisu. Rien à reprocher, nous avons tout adoré. Personnellement, je n’ai pas été très séduite par le tiramisu, mais le reste du groupe a beaucoup aimé. Rapport qualité/​prix imbattable pour Paris!

Au Père Louis, on peut y aller pour le bar à vin ou pour le resto.
Bar à vin très sympa (on y est parfois un peu entassé malheureusement). La carte des vins est garnie et les prix sont très abordables pour de bons vins. Bémol, l’assiette de charcuterie et fromages manquent de raffinement. Par contre, ils servent des assiettes de frites avec des sauces originales (au camembert, au poivre, à la moutarde…), à goûter!
Au resto, bonne cuisine du Sud Ouest.

Ambiance chaleureuse pour ce bar à vin restaurant du sud-​ouest. le service est agréable.
La carte des vins est généreuse et le Morgon que j’ai goûté était un vrai plaisir pour les papilles.
Le magret de canard sauce au miel était très bon, mais les frites maison assez moyennes.
Le dessert du jour, une sorte de soupe chaude d’abricots avec une boule de glacé vanille et du caramel, était original et plaisant.
Bref, une bonne adresse même si les prix sont un peu élevés.

Un restaurant fidèle à lui même. Ça faisait 2 ans que je n’ y avait pas mis les pieds, et c’est avec plaisir que j’y ai amené une copine américaine. Le bar à vin avec ses plateaux charcuterie /​fromage et un passage obligé puis la salle avec ses petites tables en bois. Le confit de canard et ses pommes sautées (14 €) était très moelleux. Le service rapide et souriant. Bonne sélection de vin. Petit bémol pour la crème brûlée un peu trop brûlée …
En bref Au père Louis reste une valeur sure.

Ici on prend l’apéro dans un cadre sympa, accoudé autour de gros tonneaux de vins, avec quelques planches de charcuterie/​fromage si on veut grignoter. L’ambiance chaleureuse (même pour un mardi soir), avec des serveurs agréables et proches du client. Que demander d’autre? Ah oui, quand même, un peu de musique serait agréable !
Ensuite si on veut dîner le mieux est d’aller dans la salle en haut qui est calme et agréable. Le menu est très français, bon c’est pas de la haute gastronomie mais c’est correct et bien servi. J’ai un coup de coeur pour leurs tartes du jour, pour 7 euros on a une part bien copieuse avec de la salade, je me régale toujours.
Bref un bar où je vais avec toujours autant de plaisir en début de semaine, mais qui me donne bien envie d’y retourner un week end aussi pour tester !

Je n’aime pas la «rive gauche». J’aime encore moins les gens qui parlent de rive droite et «rive gauche». Bref, je né suis pas fan du 6ème et ses alentours, qui est pour moi un repère à touristes, ados, etc.
Rdv dans le coin, je me souviens être un jour passée devant ce bon vieux «Père Louis» (à né pas confondre avec «l’Ami Louis»… trop de Louis tue le Louis)
Je me dis donc tentons, ça avait l’air sympa. Débordées est le mot pour caractériser les deux pauvres serveuses du bar. Le temps d’attente pour le restaurant est estimé à ¼d’heure (en réalité plutôt une demie heure ¾ d’heure!) mais soit, je n’ai pas faim !
On commande à boire, les verres de vin né sont pas chers. La planche du père Louis: fromages charcuterie est ok mais chère pour sa contenance. Les fromages un peu faiblard mais ok.
A table, j’opte pour la salade auvergnate, qui avait l’air top: copieuse et bonne, sauf que je n’avais toujours pas faim… dammit.
J’ai bien aimé quand même, serveurs sympas et bonne ambiance «pépère»

Où s’aventurer dans le 6e un samedi soir après des années d’abstinence.
Après avoir vécu 2 ans dans le quartier de Saint Michel, je pensais bien avoir eu ma dose mais voilà samedi soir, que l’occasion se représentait de diner dans le quartier. Devant les dizaines d’options touristiques, les restaurants/​bars à la moyenne d’âge de moins de 18 ans et les pubs dégoulinant d’ados prépubères bruyants, j’étais un peu paniquée à l’idée de devoir trouver un endroit convenable.
Finalement on choisit le Père Louis. Pas de musique. Poutres apparentes. Menu franco-​français (aligot, cassoulet, tartare, côte de boeuf…). Pas de menu. Environ 25 euros minimum par personne. On tente.
Nous n’avons pas pris de plat donc difficile de donner au Chef la possibilité de faire ses preuves, mais nos deux entrées et deux desserts étaient corrects (une tarte salée, un gaspacho, une crème brulée et une tarte aux vignes de pêche).
Le service était parfait, ambiance super familiale, on parle au client, le service est expérimenté, on se sent dans une vraie auberge de province, c’est assez reposant. Les plats de résistance avaient l’air assez bien donc je leur redonnerai une chance.
