Unfortunately this has a venue that takes a good rating for granted… And does not work to keep it… Steak was inedible… Almost raw… Quiche was edible but very very unremarkable Wait staff expected gratuities In summary a good venue now on a downward Slide

Craving a bacon cheeseburger, and they delivered. Wife’s lamb chops were just okay. Apple tart was good, but very very sweet. Went there looking for ratatouille — flavor was good, veggies were soggy, but that might just be how it is!

I had a hard time reviewing this place. The location is perfect, a few steps away from the Luxemborg gardens/palace and walking distance from the Sorbonne. To top it off, Paris decided to throw in beautiful weather so that we could sun ourselves in the patio while we sipped our beers. So why the less than the ideal rating. I think the mediocre service is to blame. We asked for some help with the french menu and the waiter literally turned his back on us. And then we had to call him back and he did a very weak job explaining the menu. The vanilla milk that the wifey ordered tasted yummy and the beer was solid. So net-net a 4 star place with 1 knocked off for the below average service.

Cute, small place. Had the Croque-Madame and Croque-Provençal. I wasn’t a fan of Croque-[insert variety here] to begin with, so this place is just meh to me. The portion did look pretty big. The place looks authentic. It’s small so it was a bit hard for toddlers. The people sitting next to us have to move their chairs to let us through. We didn’t get the«evil eye look» even though we don’t speak French. Our waiter speaks a bit of English which helped.

Loved it. Very Parisian little Bistro without a hint of «Tourist Trap». And my goodness they give you So.Much.Food. Last night was my last night in Paris and I decided Croque Madame would be my final dinner. A quick google search came up with Au Petit Suisse. Great location. Perfect spot to sit outside and enjoy a meal. I met a friend there and we decided to split a charcuterie plate as a starter. Oh My GOSH. There was so much food. There was so much food we were to full to order an entrée. We split a half bottle of wine, the plate and Tiramisu(which is perfection) for 15 euro a piece. Perfect ending to a perfect summer in Paris.

Tl;dr: food was good(especially the tiramisu), service was meh… 3.5 stars. We were looking for a restaurant on a Sunday evening, and while everywhere else seemed to have long lines that required at least an hour wait this place looked good and had no wait. We were seated on the side in a very cramped place. The chairs were pushed back as much as possible(walls and doors behind us) and it was uncomfortable to sit in a tiny place. The service was okay… the waiters were not too attentive. The food was above average though. We ordered lamb chops, tuna steak, and tiramisu. The lamb and tuna were seasoned well and cooked exactly to order(medium rare tuna steak, medium lamb). The ratatouille that came with our dishes was delicious, and the baguettes that came with our meal were a delight, definitely some of the better breads we’ve had with our meal. It wasn’t too hard or crispy on the outside, and the inside was soft and fluffy. Finally, the tiramisu was amazing!!! Whatever the cakey part of the tiramisu was doused in, it was doused in a lot of, which was good! Service deserves 3 stars, food, 4. However, Unilocal doesn’t have 3.5 stars…

Went to this place in early August while on vacation in Paris — had found it via a Google search for the best croque madame. Given many smaller restaurants in Paris are closed for holiday in August, we were happy to find they were open! Service was great, and the croque madames were fantastic. Note: they are open faced rather than a «true“sandwich(two pieces of bread with meat/cheese in between) but ingredients were top notch and it was cooked to perfection. Wonderful little lunch spot by the Jardin du Luxembourg!

Au Petit Suisse is one of Paris’ oldest brasseries, first opened in 1791. That’s right, it has stood on this same corner for almost 225 years! This little place is a gem, with great food in large portions, a great location directly across from the Jardin du Luxembourg, and good prices for Paris. I has a scrumptious omelette with ham and onions that came with a big green salad(€ 8.8). This was big and filling and full of flavor. The omelette was fluffy and the ham(really more like bacon) tender albeit a little fatty. But the overall omelette was great. The reason that I ordered this was because I had seen it upon entering the restaurant on another diner’s plate. It just looked so good! Of course, being a brasserie, they have a very nice selection of beers and French wines. I had a very nice glass of rouge(red) for € 6 — cannot remember the details. Anyway, I highly recommend Au Petit Suisse. It’s an easy and friendly stop!

Seems like a cute, local spot that is great for people-watching, but beware! The staff will treat you differently if you are not a Parisian or someone who speaks French. We first seated ourselves at an outdoor table, which a nearby server said we were welcome to take(there were a few open), however minutes later we were ushered up by another server who rudely said that the table«has already been spoken for,» and said that we must wait by the bar for the next available table. We made our way to the narrow, seatless bar area(which was empty because nobody else was waiting for tables) and about 10 minutes later the rude server returned to show us to our table, which was on the second floor overlooking the restaurant. This would be fine under normal circumstances, but we were seated under a very hot wall lamp and in a pretty cramped space. The entire second level was stuffy and hot. Looking around during the meal, it quickly became apparent that this was the«non-French» section, as all seven of the tables on this floor were American and nobody was speaking French. Between this icy treatment and the lackluster food(the tuna was overcooked and the duck breast was way too salty), I was wishing we’d left when we were first asked to leave our seats at the beginning and spent our Euros elsewhere. So much for our first dinner in Paris!

Small, solid brasserie with a cool vibe but nothing exceptional. Tuna filet was high quality but overcooked for my taste(come on, this is the kind of cut that I want bleu, not à point!), basil sauce was refreshing but underseasoned. Tagliatelle was slightly overcooked and flat having just been tossed in oil, the whole dish needed a nice hit of lemon and salt. Ratatouille was excellent. Lamb chops suffered from the same problem: high-quality rib chops slightly overcooked and underseasoned. Again, nothing terrible, just not particularly interesting, though the ratatouille was on point. Also tried a bite of canard au poivre. The duck itself was well cooked and pleasantly gamey and the sauce au poivre was tasty but the potatoes and green beans were limp and generally boring. Very good prices but I find the food too simple to merit a 4 ½ star rating.

This is my favourite restaurant in Paris. I make it a point to go when I’m in town and always tell my friends about it for when they visit Paris. I always get the croque campagnard, a croque monsieur with potatoes on it. The service is very good and the staff is bilingual. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. It can even fit groups(up to a certain size). Head here if you want the best croque you can find in Paris for a decent priced meal in a great location.

Wow… such a great place to sit in the afternoon sun. I had a meat and cheese plate(including two terrine/patte type things) and one of the best beers I remember having… I really wish I wrote down the name but it was dark and sweet and fit the day beautifully as it was a bit cold but sunny. The servers are super friendly, the view is fantastic, the proximity to Luxembourg garden as good as it gets. The other cafes in this area are sort of bad and touristy(bad food, bad service, still expensive) and I sit in several of them as I was staying very close to here. Au Petit Suisse really exceeded my expectations.

We walked into this place for dinner one rainy evening, as we sat down I was concerned that Unilocal may finally have steered us wrong. The menu is very limited and the place itself is cramped and a bit tattered around the edges. I was concerned that all of the positive reviews had been in error. 30 minutes later after the place filled up with locals and the energy level came up I realized I was wrong. This is a terrific neighborhood kind of place, with charming service, and lovely, if basic, food. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. As mentioned the menu is full of Parisian classics but is rather limited. Lamb Chops, Steak Frites, etc. It’s definitely light on the seafood and non-meat options, so be aware. I had the lamb chops which were tender, well seasoned, and accompanied by exceptionally good Ratatouille. The kids had Steak Frites which was excellent and the Missus had Steak Tartare which she inhaled after initially being concerned that she had no option that did not involve meat. All was well. Also worth noting was the Tiramisu, which was really superior. Served in a mason jar(or whatever a mason jar is called in France) it was super yummy. My son, who fancies himself a Tiramisu expert declared it to be the«best.» I’m not sure about that, but it was pretty damn good. Once the place filled up it had a lovely, warm, neighborhood vibe and made for some great people watching. I was pleased we were here as it was a nice antidote to the typical higher-end, more detatched places we’d been dining at during our tour. But let’s be clear on what you’ll get here — it’s a lovely, warm neighborhood Brasserie turning out solid food. Not sure where all of the«OMG best meal we ever had» reviews are coming from, but it’s definitely a keeper.

Best servers, best food, large portions, 100% worth the money, great location, Beautiful Parisian vibe, no service or water charge, my absolute favorite café. Will be back again and a hundred times more. Before coming, we were on a mission to find the tastiest biggest, Croque Monsieur and Madame for the most affordable price. We’re students on a budget ya know. We did a lot of research on Unilocal and finally stumbled upon this café. Best decision ever. My friend and I planned on going for Valentines Day. We didn’t make a reservation simply walked in and was immediately seated upstairs. The waiter allowed us to sit anywhere we liked. Cozy, relaxing, Parisian the restaurant makes you feel like you’re part of a french family. There are multiple levels and we got to sit at the top overlooking the main lobby. Our waiter was a tall beautiful looking french man who looked like he could advertise for Malboro. He spoke English with a great french accent and a deep voice and was our favorite. He accommodated us throughout the night with his fun personality. Allowed us to switch out the salad for fries, offered to take pictures of us and made sure we were enjoying our food. Everything you would expect if you want American service with a French personality. The croque came and they were Huge!!! For 8.50 euro, it can’t get any better. We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces. High quality, devious and when we looked at other peoples portions(from Aeriel view of course) they were large and looked delicious too. Ultimately great place for a higher end affordable dinner/brunch/place to just sit drink/talk with friends Definitely made our Valentines Day a spectacular. We had very high expectations coming into this restaurant. Service, quality, atmosphere, and portions exceeded it all.

Our meals in Paris keep getting better. This was a great value – generous portions, value driven wines, and solid service. We left with plenty of Euros in our pocket for the wine bar, Au Pere Lois, just up the block. Started w/a Kir Royal and a Kir Savangion. Then the four– cheese cheese plate. Co-pilot had the beef bourgingon(one of today’s plat du jour) and i had the tornadoes of duck au poivee with green beans(perfect) and round frites. We managed desert and based on another reviewer, got the tiramisu. It was the best we ever had. If we weren’t leaving Paris tomorrow, we would be back! j

I just love Unilocal.I’m not sure I’ve been steered wrong yet. Dined here for dinner and though it wasn’t an over the top experience it was a nice meal in an authentic French Brassiere. I’ve got food allergies and was somewhat nervous about dining in sit down establishments while in Paris. Because of my allergies and the language barrier I didn’t always get to order my first choice when we dined out– better safe than sorry. This place worked out great because my sister was able to order a great dish, and I was able to order a «safe» dish and both of us were very happy. I had the croque-campagnard, and subbed the salad for green beans. My sister had the duck, which like another reviewer mentioned, tasted like a steak! She said it was delicious. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse. Both were very good. I’d certainly recommend this restaurant.

What an amazing place… We went there based on Unilocal reviews and had to come back — it was just so good! The food is fresh and delicious! We had lamb chops, onion soup, wine and dessert(mousse is unbelievable) on our first visit. The second time(today) we came in a bit earlier(around 5:00pm) and wanted to order a plate of cold cuts and pâté, but our waiter was nice to tell us it was too much, and he was right! Portions are very generous. Also, it’s definitely a popular spot amongst locals. The ambience is very nice, and so is the staff. Everyone was very nice and polite! Loved it!

A short walk from Bd Saint-Germain or around the corner from the Luxembourg Gardens. Au Petit Suisse is a cool little spot for hanging out and having a tasty meal. We dropped by for dinner on a sunny early evening. We were greeted promptly by a friendly fellow and seated immediately. We sat inside on their second level of seating that offered us an interesting voyeuristic view of the diners below and out front. This brasserie is very cool looking. It has a lot of character and is a really nice place to have a drink or a meal. Our server, a deeeeep voiced gentleman, was very friendly and helpful. We chose this brasserie because we notice that they had ratatouille. It is served as a side with a few of their dishes. In short, our food was delicious and I wish I was there eating lunch and having a drink now.
