Loved the delicate Onion soup! Escargot at best. Arctic Char was absolutely delicious and would come back just enjoy the dish again. Music and ambiance made the whole experience complete. Our waiter made the lunch special. I will be back for sure

One of the few decent places to get a hearty, traditional French lunch in the Madeleine district. The staff is quite nice, the food was mostly excellent(try the blanquette, one of the best in Paris). A bit pricey so no full marks but definitely a yes!

Veal stew scrumptious cod was cooked to perfection and large portion just like veal. Duck pâté and salmon appetizers large well priced and by themselves worth the trip. Shared bottle of merlot and fig and vanilla ice cream desert to complete a wonderful evening. Prices quite reasonable service friendly ambience classy but not stuffy

This is an amazing French bistro. There were many locals and tourists dining. The food was not overwhelming just served to perfection. We highly recommend this restaurant when your in Paris The selections on the daily menu is short but the choices are great For starters we have the foie gras and escargot. Amazing. Main entrees were the fish sautéed in butter and lemon and veal stew All the ingredients are fresh. You will not be disappointed

First thing to get out of the way is that this place is all tourist, all the time. That being said, the food is all classic and all well executed, but the prices are definitely tourist prices. This was by far the most expensive wine list I’ve seen — I felt like I was back in the U.S. with the 200% wine mark-up. Service was excellent and very accommodating to the English speaking crowd. The leg of lamb we got was carved table side, which was a nice addition. French Onion soup was rich and delicious. Escargot were garlicy and yummy — exactly as they should be. We had Steak au Poivre which was outstanding — the beef was perfectly cooked and tender and the sauce flavorful. The accompanying roast potatoes(in their own small baking dish) were really outstanding — perfectly crisp, tender on the inside, and just salty enough. We also had the roast leg of lamb for two. Once again perfectly cooked and juicy, a really nice dish. It was accompanied by a small crock of beans cooked with chorizo which was absolutely delicious — I could have just eaten those beans without any of the lamb they were so good. Dessert was Profiteroles with an entire pot full of very dark and bitter(and yummy) chocolate sauce. Outstanding. To sum up, while Chez Monsieur caters to the tourist crowd it does execute the classics very well and overall the food and service are terrific. However, you will be paying a tourist«tax» which is reflected in the high prices.

We recently had the opportunity to dine here and truly enjoyed ourselves. We opted for a quintessentially Parisian dinner that was spot on. Beyond the food — the service was exceptional. We originally had a little bit of trepidation as we do not speak French. However, the staff was happy to accommodate(the menu is also in English). For starters we had the onion soup and escargot. Both were perfect! They provided us with enough bread to lap up all of the additional sauce that accompanied the snails. This sounds small, but sometimes extra bread can be hard to come by, so it went a long way. The beef stew was the best I have ever had. The time and care that went into the meal was evident. Every item was succulent. The only regret I had was that I wasn’t able to finish it all! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone living in or visiting Paris!

Excellent casual restaurant near Opera! Quick service(best I found in Paris) and the portions were huge! The server warned us of the huge sizes so we were able to order accordingly. The food was delicious and cheap by local standards. Got a good bottle of wine for only 18 euros. Crème Brulee was excellent!

Our best meal in Paris! Onion Soup-Excellent! Foie Gras — Amazing! I had the Roasted Cod — excellent. My wife enjoyed the veal stew — Tremendous and Large Portion! Service fantastic, great recommendation on the wine. Profiteroles are decadent! A little expensive, but we splurged and felt it was definitely worth the price.

You will definitely spend a few bucks here, but it’s worth it. The duck for two(and served in two parts) was absurdly good and so was cheese and dessert. The french onion soup is not that awesome to be honest. Service was exceptionally good, especially for France. You will definitely have a great experience here!

Opted for this place by default(Lescure was oddly closed during their published«open» hours) and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and a nice departure from the uninspired«café tourist» fare we had been ignorantly eating. Worth the price.

Great meal! Extremely friendly staff, desserts were amazing. Our best meal last night in Paris. The filet was cooked perfectly, onion soup delicious. My wife had the chicken and loved it. If you’re in Paris, anywhere near The Opera, go enjoy this place. Make a reservation, the concierge @ The Scribe took care of everything for us.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Paris, and probably the best onion soup I have ever experienced!

Soooo good. French onion a bit over-rated I believe but still excellent. We got a few different things for the kids to try… escargot and frog legs were both well received. Wow, that frog had some tasty legs… best preparation I’ve ever had. I got steak au pouvre and it was really good except a little on the rare side for my liking(ordered medium rare). Great house wines and fantastic desserts. Profiteroles with dark chocolate sauce(OMG!) and crème brûlée were the best ever. Excellent service. Recommended by Westin so I knew it would be touristy bit it didn’t feel that way. Mainly English-speaking clientele and a bit dressy… bring your blue blazer, guys.

Our best dinner in Paris! Nice staff, great service, and the BEST french food ever. The most memorable dinner we had. We shared almost everything! I had the french onion soup along w/the foie gras — yummy! One of the most memorable was duck l’orange — so good! I can’t remember how they served it but basically in 2 parts. It’s a must get! We may have tried other entrees like the scallops or a special but I can’t remember. For dessert we may have tried Crepes Suzette and the Profiteroles. Great wine options, especially the dessert wine was our favorite ;)

Everything has been well said below. I travel so much for business and generally eat solo which has been a nightmare in Paris. Not so for this beauty, I had the French onion soup and the escargot along with a wonderful white wine. Forced myself into the apple and pear dessert and it was Devine. They graciously speak English. I think it helps to have your hotel call and make your reservations, just a tip.

Stopped by this place for a quick bite to eat and was really impressed. Well, with the food — the service is a bit shoddy but for Paris, still pretty good. I had the steak tartare that I honestly thought would just be ok and it was fantastic. The wife had a french onion soup that was probably the best we’ve ever eaten. Also had a small bottle of wine that, like much wine you encounter in France, was relatively cheap and set your expectations low but was also quite good. Definitely recommend this place and next time I’m in Paris I’d probably try to do a larger dinner here.

Had this restaurant recommended by the hotel. Very nice service that puts the rumors about french waiters away. I first had the foie gras terinne and it was superb. I huge piece was presented with small tops of mashed apple and toasted baguette. My second course was scallops served with salad and very thin slices of cauliflower served with a hot cauliflower mash on the side. A great tasting dish but sized as a starter so a bit too small for my taste and was more a starter dish than a main course dish. Nice place, food and atmosphere.

Thankyou Unilocal oh so very much for helping me find this place. Food was absolutely awesome, service was fantastic and even though we were the last in the place at closing there was no pressure for us to leave. Staff spoke English if required. We had the onion soup and garlic and parsley snails for appetiser, for main veal stew and chicken pasta and for dessert, profiteroles and chocolate pudding — all fantastic. Will definitely be my regular each time I visit Paris. B

This has to be one of my favorite bistros in Paris. I love everything about this place. The food is wonderful. My favorite is the French veal stew. It is VERY rich and filling and we usually split this entrée. It comes in a charming copper pot with delicious bread to soak up the gravy. The Chateaubriand is also excellent, though after trying the veal stew, I always order the stew. The desserts are excellent and always changing. We usually split the stew, a dessert and enjoy an excellent bottle of wine. The waiters and waitresses are wonderfully French. If you ask a silly question, you will receive a typically French reply. The décor is amazing. It makes you feel as if you are in an elegant French bistro from years ago without feeling pretentious. The chairs and the velvet sofas are extremely comfortable and the whole ambiance makes you want to sit and enjoy the good food and friends for hours. Though I’ve been at all different times, this bistro seems to be more crowded during the lunch hour with the business crowd. I highly recommend that you don’t miss this wonderful little Parisian gem.

A essayer toutefois.
