Located within the Quatres Temps shopping center right in the center of La Defense, Coeur de Blé, on the second floor, provided a quick, affordable lunch option for a friend of mine and I while we were in the area. We had walked around… a lot. Exhausted and in dire need of a break, we roamed around the shopping center and found this place — they had three cheese paninis which looked appetizing through the display case and that was enough to convert us from flâneur to customer. We decided to use one of their formula options, the Midi à déguster one for 6 € 90 and which featured a panini sandwich, a drink and a dessert(we shared the latter). Along with it, we added another drink and panini. We both had the same thing essentially, which was two panaches(beer + lemonade mix in a can — rather tasty I must confess, especially on a hot day) and the three cheese panini which comes stuffed with tomato, mozzarella, chèvre, fourme d’Ambert AOP(a type of bleu cheese) and some pesto. They press the sandwich down for a few minutes until the outer baguette shell is a bit crispy on the outside and the cheeses melt into a tasty, gooey blob of deliciousness. The dessert we had was a slice of gâteau basque and it was pretty good as well although it was obvious that it had been previous frozen and thawed for the lunch rush. All in all, this place provides a wide variety of healthy and quick breakfast, lunch and snack options within the confines of the Quatre Temps shopping center. It’s a short walk from the Grande Arche and the CNIT and is clean and has decent service while remaining affordable. There’s nothing to dislike about the place but we also beat the lunch crowd by heading there just before noon. I’m not sure how crazy it gets but overall we both left very satisfied.
