Thrifter’s heaven, Parisian style. This«beaux p’tit magasin» tucked in the back of Montmartre houses not only a breathtaking collection of old French classics(beautifully knitted Sonia Rykiel dresses, shoulder-padded Christian Lacroix 2-piece suits, and wide-legged Ann Demeulemeester pants were just a few of the gems spotted on a quick rummage), but also boasts far more modest prices relative to the«vintage» and«consignment» stores stateside. The Parisians appreciate that what they are selling are, in essence, second-hand clothes, and I, in essence, appreciate that. The 2 ladies who own and run the shop are endearingly sweet, and after watching me stumble through a few minutes of broken French conversation, finally asked me whether I was«anglais»(to my immense relief) and pointed me towards some«encroyable» skirts and«des ceintures tres uniques» that I might like. I ran away with a gold-buttoned red tartan blazer(because everyone needs one) and a gorgeous studded black belt for a mere 50 euros. And with a warm, fuzzy Parisian feeling inside.
