That butter croissant and chocolate éclair, do it! Buttery flaky croissant, and the chocolate éclair was delectable. With a balanced(not too sweet) chocolate cream filling. I knew I should have made him get his own. Fair priced items, and tasty sweet treats, I can see why this place gets busy!

I had such strong nostalgia passing by Eric Kayser in various arrondissements in Paris that I knew I had to take advantage of the proximity of the bakery in the 14th arr. to the Montparnasse railway terminus, where AT and I would take the TGV to Saint-Nazaire for the second leg of our trip in France, to get my last dose of pastries of the EK variety. AT and I were wandering about the 14th arr. to kill time(since we arrived early, which was definitely not thanks to me), discover the quarter, and look for something to eat. We stopped in Eric Kayser to see how the sandwiches looked and truthfully, we were somewhat disappointed to find the available sandwiches pre-made in the refrigerated case. I still remembered my first jambon-beurre on a fabulously crusty baguette from Eric Kayser in the 6th. It was a portable bundle of heaven made right in front of my eyes(even with a huge line behind me), which I slowly gnawed at as I traversed Parisian streets for the first time in 2011. It seemed we made it during off-peak hours and thus were met with pre-made, refrigerated sammies. I couldn’t leave empty-handed though, so I requested a pain aux raisins, while AT ordered a pain au chocolat(typically, we would order the other way around). Nice enough service. AT went to talk and pay, while I admired the artfully made and decorated pastries. Because I didn’t want us to break the bank and I knew I had to be careful, what with the impending gorge fest that would happen in Brittany, I refrained from adding to our pair of pastries. We ate them a few hours later on the train and they provided us with welcome respite of buttery, flaky delicacy.
