The Franprix in Gentilly, just south of Paris, is the worst I’ve ever been to. The closing time is 20:30(8:30), however, the big security guard at the door will not allow anyone in after 20:00hrs. He says, «The store is closed.» My response is that the store is not closed, and I entered to do my shopping. I was mocked by one of the cashiers, who went to their loud speaker and in her poor English(I speak proficient French) shouted into it, «The store is CLOSED. CLOSED, CLOSED, CLOSED.» My husband and I have written a letter to the manager, and we will copy to the director of Franprix for our region. I spend around 300 euro a month there. They will not care about that, as I believe the attitude of employees reflects the attitude of management. We will see. There is a rather new City Carrefour now in Gentilly, and although it is much smaller than the Franprix, we will do our shopping there.

This place wouldn’t be half as bad if the angry checkout lady with the black hair didn’t work there. Honestly, I think she truly hates her job and treats every customer as such. If you must go here, it will get the job done. Avoid 7pm time cause the lines tend to get crazy long and the aforementioned lady works as fast as a glacier melts.
