I had a horrible experience at Restaurant Gallery. I had the misfortune of dining here during the November 13th Paris attacks, just last week. The beginning of the night was fine. There was a lovely hostess/waitress — I forgot her name– but she was so accommodating and I truly appreciated her patience and care while we were all learning about the beginning of the attacks. There was a loud and rude man working and arguing with a couple at a table next to us– we came to learn this was the owner. He must have been drunk or getting there, because his presence was very loud, arrogant, and inappropriate. He was literally yelling at his customers. It was so awkward. He also was saying some pretty offensive and inappropriate things to our group throughout the night. We kind of dismissed this-as we were all glued to our phones, and were preoccupied with the onslaught of updates informing us of the casualties and the rising death toll taking place a short distance from us. After a couple hours, when we were certain that Paris was under a terrorist attack, it was clear we had to stay safe and take extra precautions– stay indoors, lock doors, stay away from windows, etc. I was pretty scared and nervous, and suggested to the owner(who was partying behind the bar) that maybe we needed to lock the door(which was wide open), lock it and get to safety in the basement maybe. He laughed and began to mock me. He went on saying that he wasn’t scared and we shouldn’t be either, basically he scoffed at the fact that I(a mere guest in his restaurant) was making a decision to take precaution. I calmly replied that his attitude and offensive behavior was unnecessary — and that I didn’t want to argue — I just wanted to be safe(and keep the others in the restaurant safe as well) So that didn’t work– it made things worse. We started arguing and after a couple minutes of raised voices, he demanded I leave. Yup, folks. This guy kicked me out onto the street during a city-wide terrorist attack. I was more surprised than scared. Why did he kick me out? Because I «told him what to do» by asking him to close and lock the doors for security measures during a terrorist attack. Even if this guy hated me for whatever reason, one does NOT subject a patron to the streets during a dangerous attack — or at all really. He kept bringing up the fact that he was Lebanese — as if that would explain his actions. If anything, he would have more compassion for what was happening in BOTH his countries. After 20 minutes outside trying to figure out what to do, I was able to return inside(after some heavy convincing from my friend was with me). Shortly after, we found a ride to safety, away from the attacks. I have never been so anxious to leave a restaurant. Truth is, I felt more endangered at this restaurant! In the end, this owner is a loose cannon. He is offensive, extremely unprofessional and clearly unstable. He put my safety in jeopardy by pushing me outside during the attacks, and I would never wish that on anyone.

I thought the Food was generally uninspired and some of the ingredients were not of the best Quality(the fish). Did not like the décor either. Kind of chique, but mostly cold. It looks more like a minimalistic Nightclub than a friendly restaurant. Also quite dark in there. Upsides? Staff was very friendly.

Food is OKish — too much manners, posh names and descriptions for dishes that are quite ordinary. I don’t think that everything is homemade, but we had no bad surprise overall. As for prices, they are way too high(11 € for a starter, 16 € for a smallish pasta plate, 9 € for a small mascarpone) However, we went there with a 50% discount via TheFork, so it ended up being quite cheap at the end. As finally, the place: very cosy and romantic, candles everywhere, dim lights and soft lounge music. However, this place has a HUGE downside: it is invaded with hungry mosquitoes which you will have to chase away from you skin during all the meal. Honestly, there is a problem there. We rushed away as soon as we finished just to stop being bitten over and over again…
