Location is the only reason to stay at this hotel. What initially looks like vintage charm quickly becomes inconvenient. It is noisy! There was construction inside one of the rooms early in the morning and the sound of a motor or generator going 24 hours in a closet near the stairs. The tiny 10’x 10′ room I had on the 2nd floor faced inward(to a small space in between the building) so there was no sunlight or view. The closet will not fit more than an item or two and there were no drawers and no place to put my suitcase. They did not clean my room until after 4pm. The elevator is the size of a coffin and it is slow. I had to use the stairs. There is no hairdryer. What they call a hairdryer is more like a fan on low speed. Even if you bring your own, there is no place to plug it in. The toiletries were only a thin bar of soap and a small bottle of shampoo. There were no washcloths in the bathroom. The front door is locked at night so you have to be buzzed in. The guy who was supposed to be watching the door was gone. I banged on the door for 20 minutes and nothing! I waited outside at midnight in the cold and rain for him to let me in. The telephone in my room would not make outside calls. When I complained, I was told to try again. I tried several times a day and it would only make internal calls to the front desk. I’m giving 2 stars for their attempt to maintain the original old décor, which is cute, and for the location, which was great.

Grand Hotel Dechampaigne is a Parisian boutique hotel. Located in a quiet neighborhood of central Paris on a really quirky corner that my cabbie circled twice! If your not lookin you will miss it! lol If you want to get your Parisian bohemian vibe on this bourgeois hotel is a great place to start. It’s very quaint, smallish rooms but extremely tidy, ornate, old fashioned style. Crazy colors & def not modern, the building is over 400 years old & sorta looks like your french grandmothers place, but in a nice cozy way. The terrace rooms are the best. They have awesome views & are quite romantic ;) I arrived late my flight had been delayed, half my luggage didn’t make it & my BFF had already checked into this hotel into a terrace room on the 5th floor that had a sweet little balcony & awesome views of the rooftops of Paris. Just lovely. My BFF hooks me up with a shower, glass of wine & starts singing«Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir?» Im like I thought you would never ask boo. LOL So I just stayed till I got my luggage then switched later to my hotel. However, this place is great, I would totally stay here again. So comfy & cozy. We both had a blast at this hotel bc we could just walk everywhere just like being in NYC. I loved that it was in a neighborhood away from all the tourist & loved the little market/convenient store right around the corner where you can buy wine, yogurt, fruit, croissants etc., It’s also steps away from Concord Square & Rue de Rivoli, which is always fun with tons of great shops & restaurants to choose from. Or you can take a short walk over to the very beautiful Tuileries Garden or walk over & shop till you drop on the Champs Élysées. It’s also only one block from the River Seine, one block or so from the Châtelet/les Halles Metro Station, & a short walk to Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle, Pont Nuf, Latin Quarter, St Mitchell, The Louvre & D’Orsay. We also walked to the Arc de Triomphe & the Eiffel Tower from the hotel. What I liked most about this little boutique hotel was the incredibly professional staff & attention to detail. Old fashioned in the best of ways. I also LOVED the complimentary stationary. Both the paper & envelopes were of quality paper & in the prettiest blue. Perfect for hand written letters from Paris. Highly recommend.
