The restaurant was very nice and clean we sat ‘outside’ — it was very interesting — an outdoor indoor style restaurant if you will — we also had a very nice server — Samantha — the food was alright — I got the 5th avenue burger — it was okay, it was prepared very nicely and presented very nicely, it didn’t really go with my palate, but I don’t think it was their fault, it came just the way it said it was going too. It was expensive, but it is also a steak restaurant, and the quality of meat did seem good, since that is what the rest of my party ordered

I remember eating here back in 2011 and thinking that as good as the food was, it was overpriced. It’s one of the few chain restaurants in Paris, and you can’t help but get a corporate America vibe from it. As an American, I’m sure my opinions are biased, but if I wasn’t taken there as a guest, I would’ve rather spent that money at an independent bistro or café. That being said, I still enjoyed my food, service and the atmosphere. The food is safe (simple and unadventurous) so one cant go wrong with anything on the menu.

Da sich unser Hotel direkt an der Place dItalie befand, haben wir unser erstes Abendessen im Hippopotamus eingenommen. Das Restaurant befindet sich im Einkaufszentrum und ist vom Ausstattungsstandard mit allen ähnlichen französischen Kettenlokalen wie Buffalo Grill oder Courtepaille vergleichbar. Auffallend war ein leider sehr langsamer Service und das zumindest für deutsche Verhältnisse schwindelerregend hohe Preisniveau. Zum Glück hatten wir aber die Happy Hour erwischt, und so konnten wir unser Essen zu zumindest halbwegs zivilen Preisen bestellen. Der Feldsalat mit Entenbrust war okay, wenn auch kein Knaller, und das Steak war etwas zu sehr durchgebraten, aber noch essbar. Generell finde ich das Preis-​Leistungs-​Verhältnis hier verbesserbar.
