Hôtel Aida Opéra

We arrived at the hotel on the evening of Friday, July 19^th and checked-​in. The woman at the reception desk was very nice except that when we asked her where the parking garage was that offered the discount for hotel clients, she failed to identify the hotel and the garage on the map she provided. Therefore, we spent one hour driving in Paris traffic in order to enter the decrepit garage she had recommended only to find out it was ‘t the correct garage!!! The correct parking garage was just around the block from the hotel.
When we walked back to the hotel where we had left our two daughters with our luggage is when we found out the a/​c wasn’t working in none of the guest rooms and, since there was scaffolding around the building, the room was stiffling hot. They had provided a little electric fan for a room for four people!!! We went back down to the reception desk and complained to Laurent, who explained that since the room was already paid for through Expedia there would be no way they would pay for a room in a different hotel. He also said that of course they would give us a 30% discount on our three night stay since we had booked an air conditioned room and that wasn’t what we were getting. He also got us another electric fan that my husband had to carry to the room.
The next evening I asked Laurent for the discount and he said I could get then or on departure but when I produced the credit card he said the manager, Emmanuel, would have to authorize it. He said Emmanuel would be in on Monday morning, the day of our departure.
The next morning we asked the man at the reception desk when Emmanuel would be in and he said on Tuesday and that he never was in on Mondays.
That same evening we asked Laurent again and he assured us that Emmanuel would be in on Monday
The day of our departure, Emmanuel wasn’t at the hotel so we had to leave without our discount.
Thanks to our terrible experience at your hotel, our stay in Paris was not enjoyable.

Best Western Hotel Aida Opera is an easy 15 minute walk from Gare du Nord and five minutes from metro stations Grands Boulevards and Bonne Nouvelle. There’s a laundromat and a grocery a block and a half away (rue Geoffroy-​Marie) and a great little crêpe stand on the corner near Grands Boulevards (rue Montmartre).
We stayed here twice. Our first room was super clean. The safe required maintenance from reception but they got it working, and the air conditioning took some time to get it to work, but we were very satisfied with the service — satisfied enough to return. Set up was two double beds pushed together and a fold-​out chair. FYI read the fine print: we were under the impression that the continental breakfast was included, but it costs 15 Euros per person. Delicious breky, though, love those pain au chocolat, and their yogurt tastes great.
Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Bag storage is free and secure; we stored multiple bags for several days.
Second stay was for a single night. The bathroom was carpeted and had a *strong aroma of mold, which we reported at check out. Would have been four stars if not for the mold :/​.
Great location, though — really nice little Uzbek restaurant on fue Trevise — and generally clean and friendly. I recommend it.

Zimmer sind sauber. Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral und ist gut mit der Metro zu erreichen.
Den Stern Abzug gibt es für sie größe der Zimmer es ist sehr sehr eng. Aber ansonsten ist alles sehr zufriedenstellend!

J’ai deux anecdotes sur cet hôtel qui né vous inciteront pas à y séjourner ou à le conseiller. Une première fois, j’y ai hébergé des collègues allemands et hongrois dans le cadre de mon travail. Alors que j’avais réservé un mois auparavant et versé des arrhes, aucune chambre n’était disponible pour eux. En dépit de nos réclamations et parès m’avoir remboursé en râlant, on nous a rétorqué d’aller voir ailleurs car l’hôtel était complet. Du jamais vu ! Deuxième tentative. Des amis américains y ont séjourné un week-​end avant de partir sans payer car ils s’étaient fait voler des effets personnels dans leur chambre en leur absence…
