Hotel de Turin

My husband and i stayed at Grand Hotel de Turin for three nights in March 2012. While the hotel itself certainly isn’t the fanciest in Paris, it was perfect for us.
We were given an early check-​in, which was very much appreciated after flying all night from the US. Our first room was next door to a room being renovated and we couldn’t get the sleep we desperately needed. The front desk staff was very understanding and moved us to a better room!
The first room was very tiny. The second room was bigger. I would recommend that you make sure you know which floor plan you are getting when you make your reservation.
Overall, our stay was great. The front desk staff was very helpful throughout our trip. And while hotel isn’t five-​start quality, it’s the perfect place to sleep after a long day of touring Paris.

Decent hotel. Basic with simple amenities but very clean and in a good location.
The rooms were a decent size with a nice bathroom and TV. It was lacking air conditioning and tea/​coffee facilities but if you only use the room to sleep then it is fine.
The breakfast (€ 8 per person) was decent if not overly exciting. It was mainly bread/​meat etc.
Wi-​fi is € 2 per 24 hrs.
The area may not be suitable for some travellers. Pigalle is generally safe but there is a seedy underbelly which may deter some.

It was somewhat easy to find by my 3^rd day! The first day, I couldnt find it because I was a n00b to the city and a stranger on the metro had just carried my luggage from train to train and i had to drag it myself looking for the hotel. From the train station, you could see a HUGE sign saying «Transvestites» welcoming you to the area. The metro stop is Pigalle and across the street is an a-​okay bakery beside McDonalds. The TINIEST elevator I had ever seen but hey! better than nothing. The elevator didnt reach the top floor so i once again dragged my luggage up a flight of stairs. There’s a coffee vending machine in the lobby and I believe the wifi was € 2 for 24 hours.
I never got to utilize the free breakfast because I couldnt wake up early enough o₀
The walk to the from the hotel especially at night, you will be solicited by both male and female prostitutes standing on the doorstep of their umm i dunno what they call it. I just smiled and walked by them.
You walk all the way up and up and up and up and voila! Montmartre is at the top of the hill with the Sacré-​Cœur church!!! I believe it’s about 2 metro stops from the St. Michel metro stop for the St. Michel fountain.
I set up a shuttle the night before to take me to the airport and I think it was 30 Euros? Even though this hotel is right in the middle of the Red Light District, I never felt unsafe as a lone female traveler.
