Hôtel des 3 Collèges

I have stayed here several times, when I am in Paris for just a few days. If I’m going to be longer, I book an apartment. As noted, the rooms are small and the location is great. This hotel is comfortable and affordable, not luxurious, but I don’t spend much time in the room when I am in Paris anyway. The neighborhood is busy but surprisingly quiet at night. My go-​to hotel in Paris.

The hotel was fine, the usual tiny Parisian digs, the location is great.
As New Yorkers my boyfriend and I are used to a brusk manner, but this establishment’s customer service was truly appalling. I had admittedly dirtied one of their thin scratchy towels when I used it to wipe some mud off of a shoe. When we returned from dinner along with all my boyfriend’s colleagues, the front desk man proceeded to go on-​and-​on about the towel and how they needed us to pay extra for it to be cleaned. Waving it around even after we had agreed to pay the 5 € to clean it. He was literally airing our dirty laundry in front of several work contacts.
When we checked out the next morning they then insisted on charging us for an extra breakfast even though we had only used 2 of the included 3 breakfasts, because two of the breakfasts were on the same day
Additionally, the girl told us our totals and mentioned the ‘towels’ (plural). They had decided after the fact to try to charge us for another hand towel, which had a tiny bit of my face powder on it.
Throughout the girl talked down to us and actually snickered when we took issue with being charged for cleaning the barely used towel.
Also, I was allergic to the scented toilet paper.

Four stars for the price — $ 114 for a single on the 4^th floor, on the corner. I was able to get a room for one night on very short notice – lucky because it was the last room available.
Very basic and small, but very clean with excellent service. Free Wi-​Fi access. Again – FREE. Unilocal shows «Paid», but it is in fact free if you have your own PC.
You can choose to be billed in Euro or US dollars. Great base from which to spend a lot of time sight-​seeing around Paris – though you probably won’t want to spend a lot of time in the small room.
Environmentally-​aware: apparently they use vinegar for cleaning rather than harsh chemicals as much as possible.
As the other reviewer noted, the windows can be opened. The corner room I was in had one window that looked right down into an intersection. Quite nice. The other window opened onto a side street – and some windows directly across the narrow street.
Excellent location. 1 block from the Parthenon, 1.5 block from the location in the movie «Midnight in Paris» where the main character is picked up late at night to be transported back to 1920, a couple of blocks from the Cluny Museum and the Luxembourg Gardens, short walk (or easy Metro ride) to other famous Paris sites (Notre Dame, Orsay Museum, etc) and the outdoor market on Rue Mouffetard.
Next to Sorbonne University, the hotel is on the site of another ancient university that no longer exists – Cluny College. A few famous writers from past eras have stayed at the hotel for extended periods.
Wonderful service.
There is also a restaurant with breakfest, though I didn’t try it.

Aktualisierung am 22.2.2012: Habe ein paar Fotos eingearbeitet. Ein kleines einfaches 2 Sterne Hotel im Quartier Latin (dem Studentenviertel) direkt neben der Sorbonne. (Siehe Foto unten) Die Zimmer sind klein, wie in Paris üblich, aber ausreichend groß und sehr sauber, es gibt Zimmer mit Dusche oder Badewanne und Doppel-​oder Twinzimmer (also 2 Einzelbetten nebeneinander). (Siehe Foto unten) In den letzten Jahren haben wir uns immer ein Zimmer unterm Dach gegönnt (Nr.62,63,64), diese haben zwar schräge Wände sind aber größer als die normalen Zimmer (vor allem Nr. 63) und das Bad ist mit Badewanne ausgestattet. (Siehe Foto unten) Außerdem haben sie einen wunderschönen Blick auf Paris. Eigentlich sind sie auch sehr leise, es sei denn man schläft bei offenem Fenster, dann kann man schon mal ein paar Geräusche von der Straße hören (die Müllabfuhr kommt jeden Morgen um 6.00). (Siehe Foto unten) Es gibt auch einen Frühstücksraum (Frühstück ist nicht inbegriffen), allerdings ist das große Frühstück eher typisch pariserisch (also spärlich) und dafür zu teuer.
Wir nehmen gerne das kleine Frühstück für 5,80EUR, dafür gibt es ein Getränk nach Wahl, ein Croissant + ein Gläschen Marmelade. Uns langt es, es gibt so viele Möglichkeiten lecker in Paris zu essen, wer braucht da schon ein üppiges Frühstück. (Siehe Foto unten) Genial ist einfach die Lage, sobald man aus dem Hotel kommt und ein paar Schritte auf den Boul Michel geht, ist man mitten drin. Zur RER (die pariser S-​Bahn) und diversen Bussen sind es 3 Minuten, zur nächsten Metro ca. 8. Zu Fuß zur Notre Dame gerade mal 15 Minuten.
Die Zimmer sind für pariser Verhältnisse günstig, normaleDoppelzimmer zw.90−110EUR die großen unterm Dach 135−150EUR.
Eine Garage hat das Hotel nicht, man muß auf öffentlichen Parkraum ausweichen, der ist aber sehr rar und umkämpft, daher parken wir immer in der Tiefgarage am Pantheon, mit 15EUR Tagessatz auch nicht billig, aber was ist in Paris schon billig.
