I’ll be very brief: You should be paid to stay at the Hotel Richard in Paris(35 Rue Richard Lenoir). I don’t want to disturb you with all the pathetic details… If you need a very affordable hotel in the area just walk the whole Richard Lenoir street. There is a great hotel almost right there at the same price as the Richard Hotel that is great. I booked two nights through and I couldn’t stay even one. I can not believe that it shows at the most popular booking websites. Of course displayed pictures at these browsers doesn’t show the reality of the rooms. Booking websites should do more research to please their customers!

I was very scared before turning up at this hotel, as I had read horrendous reviews on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately I did not have much choice as I was on a budget and Paris is a very expensive city. Most other people in our group got scared off by the reviews and ended up spending about £70 a night in the Ibis. On arrival the foyer does not promise much and the guy was more interested in choosing a ring tone for his mobile phone than checking us in. We insisted on seeing the room before handing over our credit card and were pleasantly surprised that it was clean and tidy. The room was tiled, with a sink and a military style metal frame bed, which was surprisingly comfortable. The room looked a bit like a bathroom but at least there were no carpets, which would hide bugs and other nasties. We thought we had booked an en-suite room, but the guy said they did not have any. They do have an en-suite option when booking online so maybe he just meant that they did not have any available worth checking out? Anyway the shared facilities were adequate with very small loos on the stairs(one did not have a seat) and shower rooms, which were slightly small but just big enough to not get all your clothes soaked. We did not spend much time at the hotel, as we were out exploring and because of the cheap room rates we allowed ourselves the luxuries of bars and restaurants. All in all we had a much better experience than expected and for a three nights stay it is good enough. I would recommend Hotel Richard if you are not too fussy and travelling on a budget plus the location is really good.
