Hotel Taylor

I really love the location of the hotel it’s very close to restaurants and the train stations. The room was very spacious and the people in the front desk were very helpful.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Gare du Nord since we didn’t have a lot of time in Paris and an early train to catch in a couple days. We arrived early in the mornings and came to drop off our luggage, which they were very accommodating about. We watched them safely lock it in a back room.
As we left to embark on our touristy day, we quickly discovered that to turn onto the main road, you have to navigate through an alley of homeless people. Luckily we found this out during the early morning. Through the rest of our trip we just had to walk a couple blocks around that way and avoid that road (however inconvenient).
We easily walked to Centre Pompidou, the Louvre and Sacre Coeur from there. It’s near a good number of cafes, markets and restaurants.
It was late evening by the time we returned to our hotel room, and when we entered, we were so pleased. The rooms are very clean, nicely furnished, and the beds are comfortable. The showers work fine and there was hot water. The wifi needs to be renewed with a new username and passcode every 24 hours (for security reasons I’m guessing). There is lots of storage space for a small space in the armoire with safe included.
Overall, we thought the price was very reasonable (booked through Travelocity).

Sauberes, niedliches Hotel. Sehr gemütliches kleines Zimmer. Für einen Städtetrip genau das Richtige!
Zu Fuß ist die nächste Metrostation nicht weit.

As an update, after going through my credit card company and showing them how misleading the website was, they refunded my deposit. I would avoid nevertheless

En balade à Paris cette semaine, j’ai été logée au Taylor Hotel, hôtel tout à fait correct, sympathique et très bien situé. Ce n’est pas moi qui l’avait choisi, mais ouf, le choix n’était pas mauvais, même si pas de vrai coup de coeur pour ma part non plus.
Les + :
— une petite rue ultra calme (en travaux en ce moment, mais ça né m’a pas gêné cette nuit là)
— une chambre confortable et assez spacieuse
— la propreté: mes compagnes de séjour avaient l’air moins séduites, mais pour ma part rien à redire dans ma chambre (ouf) !
— l’accueil cordial et sympathique
Les — :
— Les goûts et les couleurs, mais je né suis pas fan à titre personnel de la déco, très classique
— Les tarifs semblent varier du simple au double: Guillaume parle d’une double à partir de 76 euros (en 2010, certes), le site Internet d’une double à partir de 105 euros, et il me semble avoir vu un tarif affiché dans l’hôtel à 160 euros ! Donc benchmarkez avant de réserver !

I had previously stayed in hotels in the 7^th and 4^th arrondissements, but this time I wanted something a little less touristy, but not too far out of the action.
I finally decided on the Hotel Taylor, mostly because of its locations near Canal St. Martin and because it was within a short walk of the Marais. Happily, it was everything that I had hoped for! The rooms are lovely, there was adequate room to stow my clothing and my suitcase and plenty of room in the bathroom for all of my things. I was a little surprised that the TV only got two channels — CNBC Europe and something from China. But it’s not like I was there to watch TV.
The room is not decorated in a traditionally French style, to be honest, it looked kind of beachy to me, like something you’d see in the Hamptons. But it was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The wifi is free (they give you a password) and that was great because I could make Skype calls from my room. They don’t have a common computer for guest use, so you need to have your own laptop or smartphone.
The highlight of this stay for me though, was the friendliness of the staff. Everyone speaks English and they are so kind and helpful! Diane, in particular, tried very hard to secure a dinner reservation for me and allowed me to store some perishable souvenirs in the hotel refrigerator. All in all, I was very satisfied and would definitely stay there again!

The rooms in this hotel are good: good beds, nice bathroom and clean, which is one of the most important things for me. The breakfast room looked very nice as well, although we didn’t have breakfast in the hotel. The hallway on the other hand looked quit dirty. Location is okay.

C’est dans la petite rue Taylor, une calme artère entre le Canal Saint Martin et les grands boulevards, que l’hôtel du même nom vous réserve ses charmes… et quels charmes !
Ici, on place la barre très haut, puisque l’hôtel Taylor est en fait une «boutique-​hôtel». Rénové en 2008, celui ci propose 37 chambres, lesquelles, toute différente, sont de petites merveilles de charme et d’élégance. Celles-​ci, à base de matériaux coloniaux, sont revisitées avec deux mots clés: romantisme et modernité. Et le prix, me direz-​vous? A partir de 76 euros la chambre double… et non, vous né rêvez pas !

J’ai dormi dans la chambre 602.
Les plus:
— Accueil longuet mais très courtois
— Décoration agréable
— Un vrai sèche cheveux
— Produits d’accueil en quantité
— Café, thé et infusions disponibles dans votre chambre
Les moins:
— Hotel difficilement trouvable (la rue Taylor commence par une sorte de passage couvert entre deux immeubles)
— Lit vraiment trop mou
— Baignoire en mauvais état
— Rideau de douche trop long, trop sombre et sale
— Salle de bain froide (pas de chauffage)
— Ascenseur minuscule (et une baguette de bois dépassait et se détachait de l’une des parois)
— Tasses et cuillères sales et dépareillées
— Sucres pour le café collés dans la coupelle
— Télévision n’ayant que les chaînés FR classiques (pas de TNT ou de cable)
— Pas de Canal +
— Moquette douteuse
— Une seule prise en bas de mur pour brancher la bouilloire
— Bouilloire douteuse
— Serviettes bas de gamme
— Pas de climatisation
— Les lingettes de cirage étaient là depuis longtemps à en juger de leur état
En conclusion, cet hôtel essaie de nous en mettre plein la vue en terme de décoration ou de room service (caviar et champagne disponibles) mais oublie sérieusement de se concentrer sur l’essentiel. Dommage.
Pour manger pas trop cher, bon et en quantité je vous conseille le Wok à volonté situé dans une des rues perpendiculaires. Les produits étaient de bonne gamme (gambas énormes, morceaux de boeuf généreux, bonne ambiance).
