Unfortunately I had a little accident in Cinque Terre that led me back to Paris in search of a place to replace my iPhone 6 screen. I went to 3 – 4 stores each quoted me prices in the range of 120 — 250 euros. The one that quoted me 250 euros seriously got a scoff from me. Talk about trying to take advantage of non-native people. Anyway, I went to this place who quoted me the lowest located in new Chinatown. I figure that I wouldn’t be taken advantage of as much as the other places. Boy, was I wrong. My french was definitely not the best so when he quoted me 120, he told me to come back the next day so I could have it fixed. Either the guy who typically fixes screens usually did not work that day which was a Sunday or there was not enough time in the day to fix my phone. I went on a late afternoon. So I came back on a Monday and they took my phone in and told me to come back 6 hours. That was a pretty long time to wait but I couldn’t really complain. The screen however wouldn’t be the original screen which typically is the case from what I hear. Anything would be better looking at this point than looking at my phone screen which was shattered in bits and was just awful to look at. I came back to pick up my phone 6 hours later and was so happy to see that the screen was replaced like new. Unfortunately through my excitement, I fail to examine closely on the screen and left the store. Upon further examination over course of few days, I notice that there’s a vignette effect on the outer part of the screen and there were little dusts and specks here and there. Unfortunately, friends came to visit and I didn’t have enough time to go back and at that point, I felt that I didn’t have enough french to get my point across and wasn’t sure what the policy is for things like these. I returned to the states hoping to find a place that could possibly fix the screen for less now that I do have a screen. A few days after I returned, I accidentally dropped the phone on the floor and my screen popped open slightly so there was a gap. Wow, I just couldn’t believe how bad the craftsmanship was at this Paris place. I went to a store in DC to ask if this is something that they could replace. Unfortunately the way the screen is made, once it’s popped and once the screen has been secured onto the phone that there was no way to fix without having to replace the whole thing and that would be $ 199 charge. No way I am going to fork over money to get that replaced again. I opted putting back my good case on that could secure the top screen down and wait a year to upgrade the phone. Moral of story – 1) always have a hard screen protector & case and 2) never trust this store with your gadgets. Thank god I didn’t bring in my pricey lens to have them fix it – also resulted from the same accident in Cinque Terre – oy. Customers beware.
