Our first meal in Paris was a bit of a disappointment. The café was just down from the office of the tour company that we used(which is next to the Hotel Regina, which I realized I knew from the first Jason Bourne movie). We were tired and hungry and in a bit of rush. I ordered Onion Soup, which was authentic I suppose, flavorful with plenty of bread and cheese, but not that exciting. Our other meal was(unknown to me) incorrect – we thought we had ordered a chicken sandwich, and instead received a baked chicken. It was about 1⁄3 of a bird, mostly the thigh and leg, and was fatty and bland. The service was indifferent.

Do not come here. I made the mistake as a lost and hungry tourist thinking that this will be an amazing first meal. NO. Food — SUPER overpriced and they mainly give you French fries. Come on, French fries isn’t even French. Such a rip-off. There’s better restaurants around, trust!!! Everything else I got there was bad Service — just because I don’t speak fluent French, that doesn’t mean they can treat me poorly and talk behind my back. I asked for a check and they gave me attitude. RUDE. Atmosphere– cute French style. Doesn’t make up for their poor service and food. ** DONOTTIP. Tip is included in the food cost in France. I wish it wasn’t, because I wouldn’t have left any for this store.

Horrible!!! Not only did our server try to take advantage and haggle an additional tip out of us(tax and tip is included on most/if not all restaurant bills) food was subpar at best! Worst place we’ve eaten at on this trip and we’ve done about 5 different restaurants so far!

DON’T GO!!! Upon letting them know my «steak» was frozen inside, the manager told me that maybe I’d prefer McDonalds and made a nasty remark about Americans. I let him know at least McDonalds cooks their frozen gunk.

This is a brasserie or diner. The service was great… our waiters were friendly and super nice to our 22-mo old daughter, so I would say it’s kid-friendly. However, the food was just terrible I ordered the rotisserie chicken and it was super dry. It came with French fries. My husband ordered the Steak Hache. It was overcooked and dry and also came with fries. Our dinners with sodas and milk for the kiddo came to $ 70USD!!! Would have rather ate at McDonalds. It was such a huge disappointment. If you want French food, I would definitely skip this place and try somewhere else.

This was our«go to» place in Paris. The service was very good(one waiter in particular was awesome) and the food was delicious. I had the steak(ribeye) with sauce Bearnaise and I could not have been happier. My wife had the steak(flank) with shallot sauce and she loved it. It was a solid choice that was near our hotel and I feel comfortable recommending it.

Our first French meal was the worst meal in France: 13.50 euro Rotisserie Chicken… had my wife wishing for KFC 13.90 euro Steak Hache… had me wishing for McDonalds. If you don’t know, steak hache is simply a hamburger patty. Food was so bad that we canceled our desserts. If our plates were this bad, we assumed dessert would be bad too. With a couple drinks our crappy meal came out to 40.30 Euro, or $ 52.39. Bleh. At first I thought our waiter was just being«French»…but no, after experiencing other French waiters, this guy was a real weirdo. Mostly tourists eating here, but a couple tables did seem to speaking in French… maybe they were Swiss or Belgian tourists.

After a LONG morning looking at beautiful art and artifacts from the history of the world, we needed a quick bite to eat. We could not think of much more to do but randomly pick a café on the major streets of Paris. We did not choose wisely. In 9 days in Paris, La Rotonde des Tuileries was the only spot where I experienced the stereotypical stuck up, rude server. The food was not very good. My wife had a tourist trap priced salad, and I had the beef tartare. When I ordered, the waiter slyly looked at me and said«Beef. Rare.» He stared at me. «Yes, thank you,» I said. He turned around and walked away without a word. Two stars, only because I ate all of the food.

When in Paris and one is hungry, one does not turn down freshly made crepes. Nope, don’t you dare. This little stand is outside of La Rotonde des Tuileries. We were confused as to where to pay because no one was there initially. We went inside the restaurant to ask and they said we could either sit down inside or order at the stand outside. We opted for outside because by now we had learned that sit-down service cost extra. The guy making our crepes was nice. He spoke some English and made me the best butter and sugar crêpe ever. Sure they had other flavors like apple, Nutella, strawberry, etc., but butter & sugar sure sounded a lot like the combination my mom used to put on my bread at home. It was an easy decision. The crêpe was delicious! For a few measly euros, you can get yourself a freshly made crêpe too. It’s worth it so go find a crêpe stand near you.

This was one of the No-no place to be in… Wanted a quick grab of lunch after visiting the Louvre Musee. Started with the waiter blabbering some French despite we said«Hello». And we knew he did it on purpose. Taking our orders midway, he left us just because we couldn’t decide on our drinks for a second. Service was slow. Food like sandwich was dry and nothing memorable. Skip this or you’ll have a bad taste left in Paris. Especially after those restaurants(with great reviews) we’ve been to were fantastic!

We were staying a few blocks away from this place so this was a convenient choice. We were traveling with our two boys(4 and 3 months) so we are always looking for a place that serves dinner early, before 7:30. After an extended search and roaming through random streets in Paris we compromised on this place. We are always looking for where locals eat and this is not it. A good sign that it’s not authentic French food is when every customer in the place is speaking English, REDFLAG, LEAVE! The service was a bit strange. The server wanted to talk quite a bit and in doing so missed a few beats. When clearing another table he placed their dirty wine glasses on our table and left them there. We didn’t say anything to see if he noticed and the glasses stayed until we left. On top of that the server told us that because it was Monday the Louvre was closed so today was not so busy which he did not like. The service was long so I would not be interested to see his performance when it was busy. Furthermore, it was a Tuesday and still not very busy so no excuse really. This place is strategically located a block from the Louvre and located in between three metro stations, their business thrives on tourists! The food was not good and expensive. Avoid this place and you will be avoiding disappointment.

Wandering around the streets surround the Louvre, I came upon this place with a deal where you get a starter and main course or main course and dessert for about 18.50 Euro. Their vegetable soup was alright and not memorable, but their pork cheek with sauteed potatoes(the daily special) was delicious! The pork cheek was thick and was cooked in a red wine sauce. The outsides were crisp and the inside was tender. The potatoes had excellent flavor and crisp on some sides with a sprinkle of parsley. I ordered a café noisette for about 2.60 Euro and they gave me water without charging me. Since they do have menus in different languages, I was a bit hesitant, but they spoke English to me and appreciated my attempt to speak French and overall, the service was quite good.

I would like to preface my review by saying that Paris is an amazingly beautiful city, full of busy, friendly yet slightly snobb-ish folks. After spending 5 days here I was blown away by architecture and history at every turn. Most Parisians treated us with respect, sometimes indifference, but mostly courtesy. We had plenty of good meals while running around this vast metropolis… all but one. It was a late breakfast around 10:30 am, La Rotonde des Tuileries was located across the street from out apartment in a very nice area of Paris right near the Louvre. Eager to start our daily adventures we figured it was a great choice for a quick bite. Being a seasoned traveler I made sure to brush up on some basic conversational French to show mutual cultural respect instead of just speaking English and expecting them to understand(which many Americans tend to do). Parisian appreciate the effort and don’t expect everyone to know anglais here, it’s not as common as you would think. We sat down at one of the outside tables, looked over the little menu cards, and patiently awaited our server. Mind you, the restaurant was not very busy at this point. After being pretty much ignored for 10 – 15 min, my boyfriend politely signaled one of the servers, at which point the young gentleman proceeded to ignore us intentionally. We should have just got up and left at this very point… but I was afraid to offend them. Finally an older gentleman came up and asked what we wanted. We ordered two breakfast options. Mine was simply coffee, orange juice and a croissant, and my bf ordered the continental breakfast which included all of the above plus eggs and cheese variety. We were informed that croissants were no longer available and toast would be served instead. Another while later a third server very hastily dropped off our orange juice and coffee and ran off before I could ask him for some cream. He later came back with my toast and when I politely said: «Je voudrais crème, s’il vous plait», he through his hands up in the air, stormed off mumbling what I can only assume some«niceties» under his breath, and he wasn’t trying to be discreet about it, LOL. A bit confused we finished our mediocre breakfast(my bf never got any cheese either), we simply left the total of our bill on the table and left with a very sour taste in our mouth. In a city that has so much to offer in terms of cuisine, skip La Rotonde and the attitude ;-)

La Rotunde des Tuileries is a moderately good place to grab a quick cup of coffee between a high-paced visit to the shopping street of rue Honoree and the Jardin des Tuileries. It’s location 2 meters from the curb, while perhaps distinctly Parisian, provides a less-than-desirable view onto the cars and motorcycles whizzing by through the crowded street. The coffee is strong and the service is apathetic, but it’s one of the only coffee shops in the immediate vicinity, surprisingly enough. I recommend«La Rotunde des Tuileries» if your caffeine deprivation is making it difficult for you to think. If not, take a right turn onto Jardin des Tuileries and walk your way straight through to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
