Pas mal, plats orignaux dans l’ensemble, mais le gout et la qualité né sont pas à la hauteur des prix. Dommage, car les commentaires étaient prometteurs.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. The food is delicious. We highly recommend the Vietnamese pancakes and the spicy beef. The service is excellent and personal. Don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations because they know their food :)

Ok, so I’ve been craving Phở having lived in Paris for the last 6 months and not getting any. Finally did some Unilocal search and ended up here with a few friends. I ordered the Phở and it was delicious. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the fact that the bowl cost 15Euros and was a little smaller than American standards, and for how delicious that broth was I could have had 2 servings! Will be back!

I should give 5 stars to this restaurant for the food but with their very expensive menu and with a modest sitting in poor decoration and cheap service, the rating overall dropped to 3 stars since this is a place where the food it will cost you over € 300 if you want be full and not leaving the place while still hungry, honestly I ate there many times but never understood why their prices are more than any other Vietnamese food !!!

The circumstances of my encounter with Lac Hong was nothing sort of divine intervention. It was a freezing afternoon when my weary group scoured for food in the nearby area when we stumbled upon Lac Hong’s doorsteps, cold, hungry and desperate. They were closing in 15 mins, but kindly sat us anyway. We hungrily ordered bowls of Phở in desperate attempts to warm up. What emerged was more than just phở – it was a heavenly meal, and the best bowl of phở I’ve ever had. Flavorful slurps of broth, plentiful noodles, and meaty chunks of quality steak – all tossed together in a modest, yet divine bowl of phở. Every aspect of this dish is worthy of praise – right down to the homemade hoisin sauce. I always polish off my noodles, leaving the soup behind – not this time. I drank every last drop. The owner seemed pleased when she saw the empty bowls, and proceeded to explain how much preparation goes into her phở broth – from stewing the pork bone overnight at a very low heat, to skimming every last ounce of fat off. She clutched her fist against her chest, exclaiming how she puts her heart and soul into her phở. Rarely do you encounter such a well made dish! The joy of Lac Hong does not stop there. Their Vietnamese coffee is strong, delicious, and bold – at any Vietnamese joint, if you don’t hear them chipping away at an ice block in the back, you’re being cheated! I was relieved to hear that familiar chipping behind the bar after we placed our order. Our one friend who opted out of the phở got the curry chicken – also delicious and flavorful! They really don’t go wrong anywhere here! Rarely do I ever feel so sad to leave a restaurant. The owner assured me the next time we come, she’ll have many more recommendations in store! Truthfully, I’d gladly fly back to Paris for Lac Hong.

I am visiting Paris and wanted to get some homecooking, and that you will find at Lac Hong. The food is very close to how my mother makes it – delicious. I am a vegan, and when I told the Kitchen so, the chef came out to greet me. She wanted to make sure she can prepare something I could eat. She made me vegan phở with a vegan broth and tons of vegetables. She also mentioned giving me a lot of food(which was apparent) because I was not eating meat. Food is superb but the hospitality was even better. If you are staying in the downtown area and craving some REAL Vietnamese food, you must at at Lac Hong.

Foncez!

Being raised in a traditional Vietnamese home in California where many would argue some of the best Vietnamese cooks have migrated to, Paris hosts a shop that has some of the best Vietnamese food you will ever have. On a quiet street not too far from our hotel lies Lac Hong, an amazing jewel that reminds me of home. We arrived just after it opened without a reservation and were welcomed with smiles and superior customer service. The owner came out to greet us and was very attentive to our needs. The wait staff was exemplary and always made sure we were doing well. As I review the food, please keep in mind my Vietnamese heritage and nothing beats mom’s cooking. But man Lac Hong is definitely on the same level or possibly be better!(Sorry mom) Food: We ordered the Vietnamese Crêpe, beef spring roll, phở and ended with Vietnamese iced coffee. We started off with the crêpe. It was crispy and not burnt and the filling was everything you would expect. The bed of vegetables it laid on was super fresh and when you dip it in the fish sauce(which I always scrutinize because mom’s is best) was absolutely amazing. Definitely reminded me of mom’s cooking and rightfully so because the owner treats all her customers like her own. It’s hard to pick a single item that was better than the other, but if I had a pick one thing, I would choose the beef spring rolls! Typically we get tons of vegetables, rice noodles and other fillers but Lac Hong does it like my mom: a spring roll with tons of meat! And it was marinated with lemon grass and gives it such a delightful aroma! Seriously, I could eat these all day it was so good! Phở was super legit. You can tell it was done right and cooked for hours on end. The stock had the perfect balance and the meat was so tender it fell apart on my chop sticks. Mom always said a bowl of phở should stay hot, even after you’re done eating. Mine was still steaming when I was done! The noodles were cooked perfectly and you can tell the bowl had a lot of love put into it. The Vietnamese coffee was also delish, I think. We ordered two cups and my wife ended up taking my cup. Oh, and she doesn’t drink coffee! All jokes aside, the coffee was amazing! There is a strong Vietnamese community in Paris and if you are in town, you should definitely visit Lac Hong. We are very happy that, despite some of these negative reviews, we still chose to eat at this establishment. You will not be disappointed!

I’m still kicking my behind for not reading Unilocal carefully before coming to this restaurant. We just wanted some hot Vietnamese noodle soup as our body is weak from jet lag. This is definitely a tourist trap, mostly cater to American tourists. The owner came and greeted us in English only, even though we had local French friends came with us. My local friend called before we came, he spoke French fluently, but was surprised when they responded in English. Should have realized problem then, but we were all tired from traveling. The food is average at best, but the price is outrageous. A small bowl noodle soup is 16 euro, broth was bland with minimal meat or vegetables. Servers were friendly but definitely did not explain the menu well. We also got food that supposed to eat with rice, and was never suggested to order rice.

Went totally out of my way to try this place for dinner. I had read reviews that it was pricey but didn’t think much of it. HOLYCRAP, it’s robbery. I ordered the bo bun(€ 21) and the shrimp papaya salad(€ 28!!!) yes, I could see the prices before ordering but I was convinced it would be amazing. I specifically asked for«sans coriandre» since I absolutely abhor the flavor. The server definitely took note but Of course it ended up in my dishes and I had ordered takeaway so by the time I got home it was too late to do anything about it. So major points off not honoring to my request, but the Bo bun was way too salty and I’m sure some people would enjoy the papaya salad but I forced myself to eat some since it was so expensive but chucked the rest. It’s just way too expensive here. Go to Chinatown.

Our experience: We walked in for dinner and there were only 2 other tables. We sat down and looked at the menu. Holy Cow, this was the most expensive food we’ve ever seen. A side of white rice for 5 euros? Lobster salad for almost 50 euros? The server took a while to come to our table so we graciously walked out. Food could have been amazing, but sorry — i can’t afford it!

Tonight I ate the best Vietnamese food of my life… I don’t say that lightly. I’ve had a lot of it. We started with some wine and beer. I am not a wine kind of guy so I can’t really speak to the wine offerings but the Bordeaux we had and the menu options seemed fine to me. I am a beer guy. I chose the Saigon lager which paired very nicely with everything I ate. I am happy there was a true Vietnamese beer choice available. For the entrées /appetizers we chose the mixed meat dumplings and beef summer rolls. The summer rolls were superb with fresh ingredients and VERY tasty beef. The dumplings were a little over fried and a bit too crunchy for my liking, but the ingredients within were very good. For the main courses we chose the imperial shrimp, curried chicken and grilled pigeon. We ordered vegetable fried rice(not sure that was on the menu?). We asked for the rice and shrimp to be extra spicy. I tried Pigeon for the first time in my life and I was blown away. I was very apprehensive about the pigeon but after having it prepared by «Snow», owner and chef of Lac Hong, I found myself wanting to roam the streets of Paris hunting pigeon to throw on the grill! The shrimp was perfect and the accompanied capsicum/bell peppers and other vegetables were perfectly cooked. I seriously couldn’t have asked for better. The vegetable fried rice was phenomenal!!! I can’t decide if it or the pigeon was my favorite! We asked for it spicy and we were pleased! I also added some extra chili paste which further enhanced the flavor. The spice was perfect. It was flavorful yet hot enough to develop a mild sweat on the top of your head. If you’re a spice connoisseur then you should be able to relate to what I’m talking about. The heat to flavor ratio was perfect. I added the chili paste after I finished half the dish to send my heat receptors into overboard. :) I actually didn’t try the curried chicken but my wife says it was also phenomenal. She was extremely pleased that the meat was dark meat and was very fresh. She could tell it was freshly cut from the bone. For dessert we had a lot of options but unfortunately the items we wanted weren’t available. However, we chose coconut cake and banana donuts for desert. The deserts were nothing like the names they were given. The coconut cakes had a texture that was out of this world good. They are not very sweet, but yet sweet enough. I love this style of desert. I don’t care for desserts laden with sugar. The banana donuts were kind of like bananas tempura. Fried and served very hot. They were sprinkled with sugar. Exceptionally good and I enjoyed them over the coconut cake, though they did not have near the fun texture as the donuts. Snow took the time to come out and ask us about the meal and spent a considerable amount of time talking with us about where we come from, the food, her passion for food and life. She had a relationship with each customer at he restaurant. She even gave a home remedy to a regular customer who had a cold. She’s a very caring and passionate woman. Do yourself a favor and stop in for the best Vietnamese food of your life! It might even be the best food you’ve had in Paris!

In Summary: 2 stars for the service and 2.5 for the food. Not worth a trek out there, definitely a tourist trap. The food is average at best, especially for the price, and the service was terrible. You can get the same quality or BETTER food in the states… and no, you don’t have to be in Cali or Houston. Your local Vietnamese restaurant will do and you’d pay a lot less for it too. Service: Previous Unilocal reviews recommended to make a reservation since the restaurant«filled up quick» and is «busy». We made a reservations for 10:15 pm(only reservation left online) and the restaurant closed at 11 pm. We Arrived at 10:15, restaurant was more than half empty(only 4 other tables besides ours) and they sat us at the smallest/most uncomfortable table possible, a 2 seater right across from the fish tank. We were surrounded by empty 2-seater tables far more roomier than ours. Not soon after sitting down and getting the menus(I kid you not, literally 2 minutes later), the waiter comes by and asks if we were ready to order. We told him we needed a few more minutes and tried to ask him a questions about the menu. The response we got was, «its late and the kitchen needs to close so you need to order». If you wanted to close earlier than your posted 11PM closing time, then don’t allow customers to make reservations for anything past 10PM or earlier. Heck, don’t seat us at all if your intention is to shoo us out asap. The other 4 tables were not new tables and already had a few items on their tables. And yes, we did end up leaving the restaurant before their closing time of 11PM. Food: We wanted to order the seafood soup that everyone raved about in the previous reviews. When we asked about it, the waiter said they don’t serve it anymore(maybe they ran out, but he certainly didn’t offer any other explanation or recommendation). So we quickly ordered the phở, beef spring rolls, and grilled quail so he wouldn’t get even more irritated with us. The phở came out almost immediately. Bowl was very small for the price, soup was luke warm and broth was bland with very minimal topping of any kind(meat or vegetables). The beef spring rolls came out a few minutes later. These was the tastiest out of the 3 dishes. Would recommend getting this. The grilled quail didn’t come out till 20 minutes after the spring rolls. So one of us sat there waiting for the quail while the other had been done eating. Once it came out, the quail was seasoned nicely. It didn’t come with anything else(no rice or decorative vegetables, nothing, just grilled quail). We felt so un-welcomed during the whole experience we just ate quickly and got the h*** out of there!

OK we arrived in Paris from Vevey and beelined right to lunch and boy what a tremendous find! We both had the plate of the day that gave you five choices for each of your appetizer, entrée and choice of two desserts. I had the ultimate spring rolls that were sublime and lemongrass pork was so flavorful it needed no sauce. My friend had the beef citronelle and it was very flavorful. Portions are very generous too. So not only is the food great but the staff made you feel welcome and at home. I will be back and if you love Vietnamese food this is a genuine must! Must say hello to the best chef Tuyet“Snow” she’s the best!

My husband and I have been in Europe the past 2 weeks and visited 5 cities. We pay a visit to a Vietnamese restaurant in each city and Lac Hong in Paris has been by far the best I’ve had. Best even compared to restaurants in California! I was born in Hanoi and raised in the states but have been back to Vietnam a dozen times… I’m quite particular in my selection of Vietnamese food as I travel to find the best spots We ordered: 1. Lobster Papaya Salad — unique non traditional ingredient(lobster) dish, but very good! 2. Nem Rán — very crispy and fragrant just like from Bun Cha Hang Manh in Hanoi 3. Bún Riêu — fresh crab, not from cans like done in the states 4. Ph Hà Ni — hearty pure beef broth that must’ve been cooked at least 12 hours. Portions are quite small considering we are from the US, however authentic Vietnamese cuisine is meant to be served in very small portions where you’ll always want more after cleaning up your plate! I will definitely bring my parents here next time in Paris!

Really friendly service and decent food but small portions and definitely overpriced – even for Paris. My friend and I ordered the crab appetizer(I honestly have no idea what its actually name is – we only ordered it because the owner gave such a strong recommendation for it) and the phở. We initially found the crab appetizer sort of strange, but in the end, it grew on us(though I still think I prefer my crab prepared more traditionally). The phở was decent, though I think I would have preferred a different cut of beef.

My husband and I came here looking for an Asian food fix when we were in the Champs Elysses area since we needed a break from European food. I think coming from San Jose and having grown up with good authentic Vietnamese food, I came in with too high of expectations. I thought the taste of the phở tai was adequate for satisfying our craving, but nothing compared to the flavorful broths and tender cuts of meat back home. For the price(about $ 15 – 16) and small bowl size, I probably would have skipped it. Thank you to the Unilocalers who posted pictures of the vermicelli salad bowl with egg rolls as I struggled with the all-French menu and was simply able to point to my phone when ordering. That dish was also good enough for me. I think as long as you readjust your expectations and remember you are in Paris, this can be a suitable place when you are homesick for Asian food.

IJust incredible! I had spring rolls and eggrolls and the rare beef phở. Everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh and delicious. Amazing service. I’m just lucky I speak Vietnamese because the entire menu is in French, but the staff and owner are more than happy to recommend food(the owner speaks English as well).I’m going back for dinner tomorrow, second review to follow! My review, part deux. I came back the next day for Bun Rieu, a traditional seafood based soup. It did not disappoint. The broth was so rich, so full of seafood goodness and the chef uses FRESHCRAB to make this base. The attention to detail, the desire to keep the flavors truly Vietnamese, I can’t find any place in America where the chef is so proud of her craft. I told her this evening that you can taste the love she pours in to her cooking, I was not just pumping her ego. Eating in her restaurant made me think of my grandmother and how she cooked for us in the same way. This restaurant is the way home should be. And she makes you feel exactly that way. I’m so glad I was lucky enough to come eat here while visiting Paris.

The only thing that I did not like about the restaurant was that they do not have a menu in English so not ideal if you are in town visiting Paris. We tried a couple of their recommendations and everything was really good. The chef also came out to talk to us so that gave it an extra personal touch. People were very friendly and tried to speak to us in English. Pretty authentic Vietnamese food. Prices were… well you are in Paris, so as good as they can get.

Before you go thinking why we would go for Vietnamese food in Paris?! Our stay was for a couple weeks and after the first few days we stated craving something other than French food, it was just getting too heavy. We loved it so much we came back twice! This place should get a Michelin star. It’s not fancy or crowded… So, when I first came I was like«err… We’re like the third customer, you sure we at the right place?» But boy, we were in for a treat and the food took us on a journey… all her dishes are prepared fresh and made by her and a group of Vietnamese ladies. It’s so fresh, nothing like I’ve ever tasted. Not even at the best Vietnamese restaurant in LA and the Bay Area… not even comparable to the homemade phở made by a my Vietnamese friend aunt(sorry!) We had the phở tai(the broth is cooked over 24 hours) and shrimp roll and man the broth was just so amazing! No msg just really beefy flavors with other secret spices. Second time, we called in advance to have her prepare us her lobster salad and bun rieu(crab and tomato based broth) — again both were excellent. I don’t usually like salads(More of a carnivore) or bun rieu because it’s usually too sweet/tomato-ey. Her salad was so refreshing, perfect for an appetizer and the lobster was soooo good! The bun rieu was made with quality ingredients as well. The crab flavor in the broth was beyond words. Seriously, if you’re in Paris… You must visit this place. I promise it’ll be an amazing experience and nothing like you’ve ever tasted!

I had lunch here around 2−3pm, late lunch, which was a shame because it restricted on the menu items that I’m allowed to order. A couple of the dishes will take a lot longer to make since it’s no longer lunch rush hour. Anyhow, Ordered the Vietnamese crêpe and gingered chicken, but the waiters brought out a black pepper chicken instead. Crêpe was nice and crispy, maybe a bit too oily. I wish there was lettuce and fish sauce provided on the side though. Black pepper chicken had good flavor but definitely way too greasy. Lettuce would be super great if present. Everything was too expensive for the portion you get and considering that it’s Vietnamese food. No incentive to really come here unless there’s nothing open and you’re really craving for Vietnamese food. Staff are nice though.
