Une horreur! D’habitude je réserve mes commentaires aux bonnes surprises mais ce restaurant, sous prétexte d’une cuisine maison et d’un nom prétentieux, se permet le pire des services! Aligot froid parsemé de gros morceaux d’ail, un crème aux cèpes qui n’a jamais vu l’ombré d’un champignon des serveurs qui se trompent sur la composition de leur plat, et qui rajoutent à leur incompétence une impolitesse et une grossièreté rare. Pas un pour en rattraper l’autre jusqu’au responsable… Passez votre chemin sans hésiter!

We ate here last week, and had a fantastic dinner. The atmosphere, service and food were top-notch, even with our poor attempts at speaking French words correctly. Our group ordered 2 starters (charcuterie plate, escargot), 4 mains (lamb, duck, country sausage + aligot, roasted veggie plate) plus dessert (crêpe jenette). We would order them all again. We ate well in Paris, but this was the top of the class.

Très bonne cuisine, fine et originale. Le service est rapide et les ingrédients de qualité. Par contre vraiment très cher et alors que nous étions un groupe avec menu fixe le patron n’a pas caché son agacement très rapidement. Quand on vient a 18 on pense que ça apporte du business alors que le restaurant est vide. Apparement non.

Last minute reservation well worth it on a busy night. Friendly service, they spoke English if you prefer that. Lots of locals upstairs which is always a good sign. Beef tartare was excellent, as was the roast duck. Very good chocolate mousse but wish they had a few more wines by the glass or a small carafe as husband does not drink wine. Over all a nice experience.

Not wanting to spend a small fortune on a delicious, comfortable, traditional French dinner, this place was perfect! We got a wonderful bottle of wine, charcuterie plate, minced duck (beyond delish!), and Risotto, and shared mouse au chocolat, all for about $ 120. Our waiter did not speak much english, and my french left a little to be desired, but laughed our way through our conversations. I will definately come back here again!

Just popped in here for some lunch with a good case of jet lag setting in… had a Le Blonde Beer with the Creamed Pea soup and French country sausage with cheesy garlic mashed potatoes… don’t skip this place! The food is excellent and the staff is friendly and accommodating… ahem Non parler Francais bien… c’est no problem.

We did the three course prix-fix menu and we were pleasantly surprised. My husband thought the waiter was a bit standoffish but I said he was French! Started with the lentils and bacon = yum! The salad starter we could have done without. Then on to the main, I had the mince duck and potatoes, delicious, but served extremely hot so beware. My husband had the sea bass, it had a cheesy saffron risotto to accompany it, he thought it was good. I finished with the 3 creams, those were the right conclusion to the meal, very palate cleansing. My husband had the chef selected dessert which was strawberry and cream and were just OK. I think overall I got the better meal.
Overall it was a nice meal for the price. The service was a bit cool but quick.

We picked l’Ambassade d’Auvergne based on a glowing review (a Critic’s Choice!) in Time Out Paris. Let’s say we won’t be using Time Out as a source again.
On arriving at the restaurant, I wished we had listened to our instincts after looking around at the laughably dated dėcor. Friday night and most velveteen tablecloth-draped tables were empty.
Their «famous» warm green lentil salad with bacon and shallots was fine. Nothing that couldn’t have been easily made at home, and certainly not a dish to remember.
When the waiter brought out the aligot and showed us how elastic and stringy it was, the whole restaurant gasped in horror. However, I’m sad to report that it tasted worse than it looked, and required a generous application of salt and pepper to make a dent in it.
Dinner for my companion consisted of a cup or more of the aligot, and a dry, flavourless sausage. It resembled an overcooked bratwurst.
I had the roast duck which was bland and also overcooked. The cook also applied a gurgle or two of olive oil – completely unnecessary on a oily meat.
Both were plated in a way that foreshadowed each dish – unappealing, bland, and basic.
The chocolate mousse was surprisingly good, but was served in a heaping portion.
On the whole, service was attentive and friendly. Were they in on the joke?
Overall, dinner was an expensive tourist trap horrorshow. Paris has a great many excellent restaurants at varying price points. L’Ambassade isn’t worth a single Euro.

Il faudrait apprendre à ces restaurateurs que la qualité du service est importante. Bref très mauvais service, glacial, comme si on les derangeait. Sinon que dire de ce que j’ai mangé? Des saint Jacques et de la purée de potiron: 4 pauvres minuscules noix de saint Jacques caoutchouteuses et 3 cuillères de purée, le tout pour 24 €, je pense que ça faisait longtemps que je n’avais pas vu un aussi mauvais rapport qualité prix.

Accueil très agréable dans un cadre chaleureux, le service est stylé, nous avons fait un repas très réconfortant par ces températures glaciales .
Le velouté de topinambours aux pignons de pin et à la sauge est excellent, le magret de canard avec son aligot, un régal !
Je reviendrai certainement pour le plaisir d’un repas calme, classe et agréable.

Déçu
Une ambiance et un décors froids, la salle est pleine mais le silence règne, nous devions nous retrouvé en couple en tête à tête, nous nous sommes retrouvés à un table ronde de 8 avec plusieurs personnes seuls et accompagnés… pas top l’intimité. Le service était très bon, à la hauteur d’un grand restaurant. Coté repas, nous avons pris la spécialité auvergnate, l’aligot, c’était très bon mais la quantité était faible par rapport au prix du plat (17euros le plat)

Bonne cuisine et bon accueil. Le restaurant est composé de plusieurs salles au rdc et à l’étage, avec une décoration assez sobre sur le thème traditionnel /rustique.
Très satisfait des plats (magret de canard pour moi, saucisse et blanquette de veau pour deux amis), nous l’étions un petit peu moins pour les desserts. Le trio de crèmes aux parfums d’Auvergne a justement des parfums un peu trop… exotiques. Demandez les parfums avant de commander pour s’assurer que vous allez aimer. A part ça, le plateau de fromage est plutôt bien fourni et les portions généreuses.
La carte des vins est OK, avec une belle collection de liqueurs. Le restaurant gagnerait à avoir davantage de choix et de gamme de prix dans les vins: en gros, c’est soit 20 € soit 40 € et rien entre les deux. Avec un choix réduit pour chaque. Nous voulions aussi prendre un apéritif ou une bière en entrée en attendant l’un de nos compagnons, mais 7 € le demi est un tarif un peu prohibitif pour un restaurant qui table sur l’ambiance traditionnelle et bonne franquette.

Very warm décor matched by hearty comfort food from Auvergne. The midday lunch formule ain’t cheap but is quite a treat. Don’t miss the aligot! It’s delicious and served in a ceremonial, serious fashion. The cuisine isn’t particularly adventurous, which could put this place closer to 3 stars, but it does what it aims to do exceptionally well, which is why I gave it 4 stars. I’m not sure why another reviewer accused the staff of snobbishness, because they were exceptionally welcoming. I suspect that your own comportment toward the staff somewhere reflects in the attitude they take toward you. The freebie items — bread and pâté, citrus cakes, chocolate — make this a very good deal as well. Also, if you order the mousse, a huuuuge bowl of it arrives at your table. So basically get ready to loosen your belt and take a nap afterward.

Je n’y étais pas retourné depuis des années. Toujours aussi délicieux, certes ce n’est pas léger léger, mais c’est de la vraie cuisine traditionnelle, bien travaillée et avec de vrais produits. L’aligot… parfait.

Great Restaurant in Le Marais district. The menu is from the d’Auvergne region, hence the name. I come back to this restaurant often and everything on the menu was great. They have the smoothest and creamiest mash potato you will ever find. Service is impeccable.

Soupe à la grimace à l’arrivée car nous n’avions pas réservé (samedi soir). Le service moyen (la serveuse très gentille mais le serveur moyen et pas très habile pour servir le vin)
La nourriture est bonne, le vin également (marsillac) mais la présentation des plats laisse à désirer. Côté déco, le rez de chaussée est sympa mais deco vieillotte pour l’arrière salle de l’étage (voir photo). Bref adresse très moyenne. Compter 60−70EUR pour plat dessert et vin pour 2 personnes.

Un lieu chaleureux, un service très attentif. Une valeur sûre, comme un repère de la ville. La cuisine est traditionnelle et c’est bien. Bön choix de vins d’Auvergne, abordables. Attention tout de même à né pas chercher à trop plaire aux touristes au risqué de standardiser les assiettes. Longue vie à l’Ambassade !

Incontournable adresse pour les auvergnats et amoureux de la cuisine roborative du centre de la France.
Boudin aux châtaignes avec aligot, le tout arrosé d’un Saint-Pourçain ou d’un Marcillac qui vous tire la langue…
Voilà déjà quelque temps que je n’y suis pas retourné.
Estomacs sensibles ou appétits d’oiseaux s’abstenir.
Mais par contre à faire pour tous les autres, notamment l’hiver!

If you want to know if this is a great resturant to come to while in Paris, my answer is YES! I take going out to eat seriously and the reason I think this resturant is great is because its authentic French cooking from a group of staff who work hard in preparing your meal. Just watch them work hard, its entertaining. They are kinda goofy but really want you to enjoy your experience. And they make sure you have a great experience. The Atmosphere is not snobby nor pretentious, it’s actually charming and you feel like you’re in a French country side resturant. Just look at the decorum. At first the menu may seem weird, you may think what have I gotten my self into but really the choices are interesting. I ate the braised lamb with mushrooms, it was creamy and delicious. My fiancée had the sausage with garlicky cheese mash potatoes. It’s great. I drank a glass of red wine with my meal and I was happy. Then we both ordered the chocolate moose. WOW! Ok, this was the best part of the meal! They bring you a giant endless bowl of chocolate moose that is so amazing that you will die and go into a chocolate moose coma. Order that and don’t ask questions, eat it, it’s amazing! I would recommend this place to everyone because its good food, and is reasonably priced. Book your reservation with them while you are in Paris. Enjoy!

A great restaurant. It serves some amazing food from the Parisian region. Try the Saucisse de Parlan & Aligot; it’s quite rich but seriously addictive. I have been back there a couple of times just for the Aligot. Other dishes are great as well, they serve some great meat.
The restaurant it very nice too and the staff is really friendly. I always try to go there when I am in Paris. Be sure to make a reservation though, it gets quite busy.

Outstanding! Tried it while on vacation with my family. Great service. Food was excellent and a great value. Tried their sausage Parlan and their specialty the cheesy mashed potatoes. Had the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was a huge portion and very tasty. A single serving of mousse dessert was enough for my whole family of four. Would definitely recommend to others.

Le décor est assez chaleureux, à l’ancienne, on se sent dans un vrai restaurant traditionnel avant même de commencer à manger.
Une bonne carte, avec les plats classiques de la région. mais peut-être pas à la hauteur du prix.
L’aligot était bon mais je recommande absolument la soupe aux chataignes, une merveille !!

I heard about this place from Timeout Paris, and thought it warranted a try with reviews touting its hearty, homey portions. I came here on Monday night unannounced, and was told that the restaurant is fully booked and I should come back another night. I spied with my little eye some empty tables, but the host looked surly and I didn’t want to bother him. The next day, I made sure to make a reservation and I was seated at a large communal table. The host took my order, and when I requested my steak to be medium-rare, he curtly informed me that «In France, we only have rare, medium, and well-done.» Well… okay.
That slight attitude was rectified by the proffering of a little pot of pâté and some country bread. A pot of pâté, complimentary! Don’t mind me if I help myself to finish all of it.
The steak was tough and somewhat dry. The bone marrow that came with the entrée was quite tasty. At the end of the meal, I was offered some free orange bread, which expanded my oh-so-full stomach even more.
The meal was okay, but I’d only recommend coming here if you’re comfortable with Parisian snobbishness.

Son rond de serviette
Rien que pour pouvoir plonger son nez et sa cuillère — à volonté ! — dans le saladier de lentilles, on prendrait bien pension dans cette maison. Les viandes, même si on vient plutôt pour la saucisse — aligot, sont excellentes. Quant à ce dernier, une certaine maison du côté du cours Saint-Emilion, ferait bien de prendre une leçon !

Les serveurs sont tirés à quatre épingles et tout en retenue mais fort sympathiques. La décoration est dans la thématique auvergnate. le restaurant est propre et confortable.
La cuisine quant à elle est roborative, l’aligot qui est la spécialité fond dans la bouche, celles et ceux qui aiment l’ail apprécieront.
L’entrée était un croustillant purement divin. J’ai trouvé la saucisse Palan bien sèche et de fait j’ai été un peu déçu par le plat principal. La mousse au chocolat est une merveille pour le palais.
Le pain était délicieux au point de rendre la mise en bouche de début de repas, composé d’un pâté maison, tout à fait gouteux.
Les prix notamment des boissons sont quelque peu élevés mais comme j’avais été invité je n’en ai pas trop souffert.

J’y suis allée un samedi soir sans résa, service prévenant, j’ai choisi le menu et je n’ai pas regretté.
Entre la rillette à l’apéro, la salade de lentilles (on vous laisse le saladier afin que vous puissiez vour reservir), l’aligot et le dessert, on est sûr d’avoir bien mangé.
La qualité est là et tant mieux!

Très vieille institution parisienne, l’A.A reste un incontournable de la cuisine auvergnate.
Deux salles et une décoration tout bougnate.
Cote assiette c’est la tradition, saucisse de palan, aligot, queue de bœuf et… très beau plateau de fromages
Menu terroir à 28EUR beaucoup plus cher à la carte.

Amazing how lunch can become an event, and how such an event can be the highlight of a trip.
We heard good things about L’Ambassade D’Auvergne from Alexander Lobrano’s book «Hungry for Paris» and were not disappointed. The interior and graceful service make you feel at home almost immediately, and the staff covey a sense of understated elegance throughout your visit. In fact, I have never felt more like a «guest» in a restaurant than here.
Notable dishes: country sausage with aligot, a delicious concoction of young Tomme cheese, mashed potatoes and garlic; seared duck breast, tete de veau, Andouillette, etc. They are particularly known for their starter of lentil salad, with puy lentils, vinaigrette, goose fat, and bacon from the Auvergne region. They serve it in a huge bowl, encouraging guests to have as much as they like.
Dessert, if you have room, is also very good. We had the chocolate mousse, but could have chosen from a generous selection of tartes, cheeses, etc.
Outstanding cuisine, comfort and service made this a terrific experience.

Le nom de ce restaurant indique bien la volonté du patron de faire de son établissement, l’archétype du terroir auvergnat. De la décoration aux plats on né s’y méprendra pas: toute l’Auvergne est bien là.
La carte propose énormément de cochonnailles: jambon d’Auvergne, saucisses et saucissons du pays arverne. Je connais très bien la gastronomie du Massif Central pour y avoir vécu une partie de mon enfance. Et bien, je peux vous dire que l’aligot que l’on mange à l’Ambassade d’Auvergne n’a rien à envier à celle que je mangeais à Riom. Il y a également une carte de vins qui regroupe les principales appellations auvergnates: le Saint-Pourçain mais aussi le Chanturgue et le Madargue.
Pour l’addition, on retrouve bien le côté un peu Gripsou de l’Auvergnat. C’est un peu salé quand-même mais l’expérience vaut le détour. A la fin du repas, il est très probable que l’on vous offre un petit digestif (prune ou gentiane) pour faire passer le prix exorbitant.

Super bonne adresse pour les apprentis gastronomes, l’Ambassade d’Auvergne vous transmettra les traditions culinaires de la région. De la vraie cuisine du terroir et des plats chargés d’histoire qui vous metteront l’appétit en éveil.
Le lieu est chaleureux, et typique. Un restaurant de caractère, où l’on né triche pas, et où on déguste de vrais plats. Quand le terroir vire au génie. Vous y découvrirez le meilleur aligot de tout Paris !

A good restaurant where I had a family diner for my grandma 80’s birthday ! Yes A big and important occasion ;-)
As it was a private party we had the last floor only for us!
It was just a shame that they did not plan a single/big table. 3 rounds tables were dressed. Space is not so huge ;-)
Good food, well cooked. Obviously made with healthy and quality products from Auvergne.
Service is polite, but not really easy-going.
I wish to come back there for her 90’s ;-)

This is the best I’ve ever dined at, though I am not a connoisseur or pretentious about gastronomy. I know what I like and this wonderful establishment garnered ¹⁰⁄₁₀ from me. It is quite small, on a not very fashionable street, quite close to the Pompidou Centre. But what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality. The staff are quite simply superb, as is the fare. I befriended the proprietor during our second visit and he kept returning to our table to spar franglais with which I found quite endearing. Wonderful Wonderful
