One of our best meals this trip. I love seafood and this is the place to get it in Paris I guess. We were here couple of nights before with a local and somehow we found it on our own by luck. Besides the Seafood we ordered Fois Gras and I never was a fan of this but I tell you this place had either some kind of mind blowing chemical in it to fool the brain or an amazing recipe. Onion soup to die for. Even the local beer was good. I rarely drink beer back home.

New ownership. Unfortunate. I have been coming here frequently since 2001 and always loved it however now they have cut a lot of corners and use lower quality, inferior food products. The mussels were tiny and rancid and salad was old and wilted. It is the same menu but cheaper quality ingredients(possibly different suppliers). When I sent back the mussels and got a «farm chicken» it did not not taste like farm chicken and was chewy. They also gave me a thigh — the cheapest part of the chicken — not a breast. Wine selection also suffered. Green beans are now frozen(and not crunchy). They have expanded to take over the florist next door so I guess they are going for a mass market /one time client business model(vs loyal customer retention). It will go from a place the locals used to frequent to a tourist trap. I will mourn the loss of my former favorite restaurant. Mad that I wasted an afternoon here that I cannot get back.

Kirs and good garlicky escargots to start, excellent and ample portions of Moules & Frits, try the moules in bleu d’Avergne. Didn’t have room for dessert. Friendly and efficient staff. Great spot to sit and people watch in Paris.

We came for the fresh seafood and got what we asked for. Casual, good prices, good food. Located on a great street.

So I am back and the liver pâté is still excellent. The lamb chops were tender and thick albeit a little fatty and the sole was cooked perfectly. The service friendly and unobtrusive yet friendly. Good to be back.

Located on a trendy small street in the heart of saint germaine, this place caught my eye by the case of fresh seafood. There were lots of oysters, shellfish, bullots, and conch. Surprisingly, I had one of the best french onion soups here. It was flavorful, full of onions, and full of cheese. Too much salt wasn’t the problem here as with most places. While in France, you will eat alot of mussels, and the mussels here were quite delicious. The portion was HUGE — think at least 50 pieces, so plan to share or eat as an entrée. I would definitely come back here again!

Good and well priced items on the menu. Besides tourists, there are lots of regular customers. My goto place for the best and least expensive tête de veau in the area. On a busy day, or if you are in a hurry, eat at the bar.

We were staying nearby and one evening, we were just walking around and decided to stop by to see how their seafood are, especially since they have a stall full of seafood outside you can checkout — you can say this was a test-run for us. We got half dozen oysters, large prawn/shrimp, and mussels to try. The oysters were fresh and it was good, however we still prefer our usual oyster spot more. The large prawn at 5 euro each was good, but not spectacular enough where I would go «hmmm, that 5 euro prawn was worth it!» The surprising good one, that everyone at the restaurant seemed to get, were the mussels with the traditional white wine. Now that dish was good! A bit salty, but we really enjoyed the dish. I wouldn’t mind going back just for the mussels. Maybe we didn’t order the right items for the rating to be higher? But in my opinion, this restaurant is average at best. I would go back just to have a pot of the mussels. Check it out if you are in the area but I wouldn’t trek all the way to St. Germain just to eat here.

I agree with another reviewer that is was pretty touristy, though it also seemed to be equally filled with Parisians stopping for a quick, no nonsense prototypical French bistro meal. All the typical dishes here(salade chevre chaud, tartare, onglet, entrecôte, modules) and all done reasonably well. Location makes for some solid people watching at any hour.

It is touristic, granted. But it is a good stop and the price/quality ratio is good. Advisable!

Pretty standard fare. Friend had the mussels, which I wasn’t terribly impressed with, and could have used more sauce. I had chicken Basque style, which was large and not bad. Basically standard stuff, not exciting but not awful. Price is reasonable as well. If you’re in Paris you can do better. If you’re starving and have limited options, you could do worse.

So going into our June 2013 trip we only received one personal recommendation. We did our research and had ideas as to where we wanted to go, but only one personal recommendation and this was it. Would you believe it was the only place that we could not give 5 stars to? Nice little table outside on Rue de Baci, where the street is closed for the most part and people take over. We had the Milanese, along with this meat plate that was just not up my alley. Try as I did, I don’t think I was able to finish half of it. I could have just ordered the wrong thing, but this may have been the only meal in Paris I did not finish. The meat was just odd, not at all appetizing. The service was also lackluster at best, also unlike any other Paris visit. The wine was on par with other places, just tastes so much better in Paris. We also had a kid try and take our bread, but we’re New Yorkers so that wasn’t about to happen, but just a heads up. The overall reviews for this place are pretty good, so we may have just gone on a bad day. But, at the end of the day, when I think about the worst food and service we had in Paris over the course of eating our way through it for 9 nine days, this is the only place that immediately comes to mind.

Serveur a l étage sympathique.

This place was recommended to me by a guy studying restaurant management in Paris. The seafood is absolutely fresh and delicious. I had the muscles in their traditional wine sauce for 16 €. I’m a lover of muscles and this riveted all the muscles I have eaten in my lifetime. The portion is enough for two people and comes with French fries. I had a glass of wine that was just ok. It cost 4.00 €. The servers are very helpful and kind. The space is like a mom and pop restaurant and it feels like a place that has been a staple in the area for a long time. If you are in the Latin Quarter and want fresh seafood, this is your go to.

Our second night in Paris and this was our best meal so far. It was nearly 11:30PM after the Vedette tour so there weren’t many options open. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, attentive, and spoke perfect English. We were served immediately, and were checked on often. The menu is nothing special, but portions are large and a good value. Salade nicoise was enormous, onion soup hot and not too salty, and the cheeseburger was thick, tender and juicy. Being from Southern California where the burger is king, I am a burger connoisseur, and I’d rank this one with two thumbs up.

Our first night in Paris and we stumble upon this cute brasserie. The plat du jours were all sounding delish. We had the pâté de canard as an entrée. It was much larger than I expected and very tasty. I had a fish special and my hubby had salad with tuna on top. Everything was fresh and light which was what we were looking for. I would reco if you are looking for an affordable place for seafood.

Dishes are hit or miss. Onion soup was good, veal was OK. Potatoes and fish were bland. Good location for people watching, as it’s located on/near Rue de Buci.

My wife and I ate here tonight as we are staying around the corner and enjoying everything Paris has to offer… food, wine, etc. This was our first poor meal since we got here. The oysters were good and the french onion soup was ok. However, my wife’s chicken was old and dry she felt it was reheated. My steak was tasteless and cold!?! They were more interested in getting tables turned over than waiting on customers. This poor older gentlemen in front of us was shoo’d out the door in bush league fashion. The service gets a 0 out of 5. It took them 20+ minutes to take our order(they were not that busy), we asked for water and no water, no one checked on us during the entire time as we were going to have them fix the food but just decided enough was enough so we asked for our check and they brought us ketchup. Not kidding! Bottom line, there’s too many great places to eat in Paris around every corner to eat here.

Note: this review is for our experience some time ago — some details may have changed, but from the reviews, it does not appear as if it has deteriorated in any way, shape of form!(Bravo!) In November of 2008, we stayed at the nearby Hotel de Buci for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed this simple, delightful restaurant 4 times! While my father berated us for repeatedly going back to one establishment when we were in such an amazing culinary center, my wife and I were quite pleased that we did… Our experiences there were romantic, delicious, and something we shall never forget! For a brasserie, it’s not cheap, but it does serve delicious, homestyle food, as well as first-class fresh seafood. Try their seafood nights(The Gillardeau oysters were delicious!) We loved the couscous, beef with fries, seafood, and wine! The waiters are also VERY personable; we enjoyed the service very much, and tipped them well over the service included in the bill — on purpose. Emile is the senior waiter, and he is a master of his craft — polite, helpful, and sincerely interested in his customers. He served us on two occasions, and we sincerely enjoyed his company and service. If you can, eat outside, because the people-watching on this street is fantastic. There are all sorts of troubadours who will walk by, and watching/listening to them is an incredible experience. We shall always return to this nice, quaint, restaurant whenever we come to Paris, and wish their staff only the best!

Beware, as we were not. A total tourist trap. Mussels were gummy and relatively flavorless. Steak in prix fix was really small and very bland(and when did the French start serving steak fries as frites?). Choc Mousse was a small step up from pudding. With all the great places to eat in Paris, I can’t believe we wasted a meal on this place. Others should not.

We’d walked past this place dozens of times and one evening we decided to give it a try. The menu formular was OK, but we also ordered some a la carte dishes, and had a great meal. The service was fine, some snobby folks complained about something smallish at the table next to us and were placated, we laughed about it and got free desserts. Leave attitude with your luggage and come have a good time. Enjoy
