My obsession with feuille de tomate(tomato leaf) began in New York. Upon moving into my Chelsea flat, I discovered a bottle of hand soap that was unlike any I had ever used before. People would wash up with it and then text or email to ask about the unusually beguiling scent. I began to search for a supplier but came up short until… Paris. With a local expert at hand, I described my one desire, which eclipsed all others: savon liquide feuilles de tomates. My sherpa was convinced it could be found at Le Comptoir de Famille, which had an outpost near my hotel in Saint Germain des Pres. Though the label was slightly different, one sniff confirmed that her hunch was correct. I promptly bought two bottles, one of which is in my bathroom in London where it is already drawing rave reviews from users! On my next visit to Paris, I will definitely get a few more!
